LouieB
Rosie was having a bit of a hard time of late and missed about a month of her show, but she is back on playing Bloodshot tonight at WDBX in Carbondale. Check her out if you have time. Thanks. LouieB
Lynch
Listening now.......I like it. A good way for me to check out and sample some jazz artists. Thanks for the heads-up, Lou!
LouieB
Listening now.......I like it. A good way for me to check out and sample some jazz artists. Thanks for the heads-up, Lou!Actually I am pretty impressed with her selections up to this point....at some point I convinced her to rip some "real" jazz CDs so she has a decent selection on her hard drive. (She started off with Frequency....a great group on Thrill Jockey....) Tune in next week too.....we will be playing LPs...if Rosie gets up to speed on how to work the turntables.... j4lackey
Yay Rosie! Gotta sit at the computer making posters today, so this will be a nice accompaniment. Make sure you remind us again next week, too, Lou.

LouieB
Hmmm..howza 'bout something from the other side of the fence? Some AACM alumni? That should be easy.....Maybe some Art Ensemble to wake up Carbondale... Incidently Rosie did play some AACM twice this morning.....Nicole Mitchell and Frequency (with Niki and Ed Wilkerson of 8 Bold Souls...) I know what you want....that Lester Bowie thing about Donald Duck...I just pulled it off the shelf.... I do like that she is playing the be-bop though.... mountain bed
Yeah! That's cool. This is just 2 shows? It should be a regular thing.
LouieB
Yeah! That's cool. This is just 2 shows? It should be a regular thing. Well Rosie might get a regular show next year. I am 350 miles away... She has done some other shows of late, playing all the VC faves....right now she is playing Tim Buckley.... (now if someone wanted to give me a show in Chicago......) LouieB
I just went and took a shower....was Art Tatum on? I took a break during what I thought were the singersongwriters playing jazz..... LouieB
mountain bed
WSQ! Damn, I'm not believing this! "Steppin'" is one of my favorites. No shit.
LouieB
WSQ! Damn, I'm not believing this! "Steppin'" is one of my favorites. No shit. Yea,....not something I am sure I would have played..but pretty out there...even now. Well that's a wrap...now I can go do some yard work or something equally as dull but more productive. LouieB
Bumping this up in case I forget tomorrow or Saturday...remember 10 AM central time. Looks like about an hour or hour and a half of jazz (intergenerational, including early, swing, bop, hard bop, avant, etc.) for about an hour to hour and a half and then singersongwriterrockandroll with everyone's faves for the last hour and a half or so. Expect a surprise or two, but mostly stuff everyone knows.... LouieB
Welsh Rich
Is there anyway to "listen again" or podcast it? The time difference is a bit of a killer!
LouieB
Is there anyway to "listen again" or podcast it? The time difference is a bit of a killer!I doubt it. This is a really low budget community radio station without that kind of capability. Sometimes the stream itself doesn't work all that well.....sorry. PM Rosie and maybe she has an idea, although I doubt it too. LouieB
Lynch
Looking forward to it. A pot of coffee will be brewed and ready for 10 am.
Tweedy's Gurl
aw...you guys rule. thanks for tuning in last week! it was a blast! i actually had to think about that playlist....i don't know jazz as well as louie does. definitely tune in tomorrow...it should be a good one. i'm trying to get a regular show in the fall...i want to do a sunday morning show called 'the devil's radio' (thank you robyn hitchcock for the inspiration!) um...as for re-listening....the station doesn't have the resources to podcast (it's completely community run...one of only 2 community stations in illinois!) however, i will be doing my best to record it onto CD. (it's gonna wind up being 3 discs long...oof) i'll see what i can do after that point.
Lynch
Don't forget to tune in today, folks.......

Lynch
I loved that Jelly Roll Morton tune too. There is no better way to spend a lazy Saturday morning. A cup of coffee, some great jazz, and lounging around the house.
