remphish1
Ahh made a trip to the vending machine at the office today and bought a bag of chips...bags of chips now are half an once in size! Back in the 90's it was 1 and 1/8 an ounce...anyone else notice simiar size shrinkage. Cans of soda sometimes have 11 and a half onces instead of 12....
JUDE
It's healthier to have smaller portion sizes.
Guest Jules
he said shrinkage
remphish1
and that's what I keep telling myself but cutting the portion in half means that the bag of chips is now twice the price. I did lose 20 pounds this year maybe it was because the portions got smaller!

austrya
Apples, oranges, carrots, etc haven't gotten smaller over the years. Maybe we all just need to eat stuff that doesn't come in packages.

I usually eat tons of fruits and vegetables a day (Those have gone up though in price recently!). I fell victim today to the mid afternoon snack though.
Lammycat
The size of the portions of pretty much the shittiest food you can put into your body (fast food) continue to grow though, so there's that. Plus, I think you can still get a 340 oz. cup of sugar water at your local 7-11.

I fell victim today to the mid afternoon snack though. Food prices at the grocery store have gone up, too, particularly in the produce/dairy section. I still don't mind paying $2. 79/lb. for organic Pink Lady apples or $1.89/head of good romaine lettuce.
PigSooie
Bud Light is hanging around $8.79/12 pack.

JUDE
Does Bud Light still come in 12 -12oz cans or is it like 12-11.5oz cans?
kimcatch22
Does Bud Light still come in 12 -12oz cans or is it like 12-11.5oz cans?Is this the same reason NBC is now running The Office from 8:01-8:31 and ABC runs Lost from 9:02-10:02?

PigSooie
No. Everyone wants to be the old TBS.
kimcatch22
You may be on to something.Either way, package sizes would stop going down if steroids weren't so widely used.

That really ticks me off when I have my DVR set to record from 7:59 to 8:31 and the stupid show will go until a few minutes after that.

Luckily it was that stupid Jin/Sun episode and I was watching it as it aired, so it didn't matter. But yeah. I blame rising gas prices and someone not being able to get as much cholesterol out of a bag of chips as she used to get.
bobbob1313
Can we just discuss how fucking unreasonably expensive it is to eat healthily in this country?
Guest Jules
Can we just discuss how fucking unreasonably expensive it is to eat healthily in this country?Just eat less; it's a start.
austrya
You know, it is expensive to eat healthy, but healthy foods usually keep you from being so hungry all the time, so you actually eat less than if you ate a diet of refined carbs all day. Plus, it's expensive now, but think about how expensive it is to be obese, have type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc...
