I know a lot of people have been through a lot worse but that was pretty...ICKY!!! I could feel things moving in my back :stunned All of the staff was very nice, courteous and knowledgeable.

It's done and now we'll see how effective it is. I guess the numbing medication must still be working because currently I don't feel a thing. I'm taking tomorrow night off and then I'll be back in the swing of things Friday.

So we'll see how it goes...

Thanks again everyone especially YOU Jen :cheekkiss

So, I did have to continue to take vicodin w/ the ibuprofen throughout the weekend during work. However...

NOT A SINGLE pill taken since 3p Sunday (end of my last shift)!!! :dancing :party :dancing

And I will be trying the Neurotin this weekend coming to see if I can take less of that than the vicodin.

Michelle - I hope it works out for you as well!!!

My epidural is scheduled for friday June 20th at 12:30p.m. I really hope it does the job. My doc said if the epidural doesn't work he is doing a mylegram.

i'm willing to bet that isn't nearly as nice as a candygram...

wow, cant believe i missed this topic. I have DDD degenerative disc disease, had it since i was 18 and i am 29 now. i had an ESI shot. i was sitting on a bed and doctor injected it into my lumbar region and he hit a nerve, pain shoot up my spine. ouch. i laid in a recovery room for an hour. in major pain on the car ride home. i couldnt bend my legs and couldnt sit still or without pain. needless to say, it didnt do much or anything for me. still have pain today. sorry to be graphic just giving my insight. hopefully for you, things work out better.

That blows. Mine have always been done under anesthesia, and with x-ray help for the doctor, minimizing the chance of missing the right spot. I guess I thought this was the norm.

Well Jules after reading Smokestack Joe's comment, now you know why I think it my hurt. Wow that was crazy what happened with his epidural. Well by this time tomorrow I guess I will know weather or not it does hurt, but I am having it done like you under anesthetic.

Ummm...I was NOT "put under" for the procedure. And, yes, it was painful but more from the pressure of everything than anything else.

I was not put under either, they gave me something to relax, didn't feel much in the back. I am now very sore mainly on the right side down and very stiff. I have taken 4 hydros and 1 flexeril since I got home at 2:00 p.m. I will not know if it worked for a few days I am sure.

the best way to do these studies, but not widely available.

as a rule mri first, myelogram if mri inconclusive, discogram if things are really uncertain.

ct guided injections are a realm apart from fluoroscopy guided or blind injections.

i've performed a hundred or two of these injections back in my training a few years ago so that's where i'm coming from.

This weekend was a lot better than last weekend - less pain, less medication taken. I took three doses on Friday and only had to take one dose yesterday (both Friday and Saturday were double shifts) and today. :dancing :dancing :dancing

Michelle - hope the pain is residing some for you. :pray

Latest update on the epidural I had, the damn thing did not work in fact caused some of the symptoms I was experincing at the begining come back. Numbness in the legs and tingling and the back is hurting more and pain in both hips. Went to Pain Management doctor today, he asked if I was ready for surgery? I told him I thought we were going to try a myelogram CT next and he said that would be a good idea. I am going back to the neurosurgeon to have this procedure done.

Again, I'm no expert, but I think you need a ct or xray (not sure the correct way to say it) guided injection. If your pain mgmt doc doesn't do that, find another doctor.

That is the type of epidural I had and it did nothing, there has to be something more going on than a nerve thing.

I stand corrected. Good luck with the next option.
