Mr. Kinsley
I think we've done a top 100 bands, albums, and songs in the past. Is there another, less conventional list we could do? -Best and/or worst band names (regardless of actual quality of music.) -Best rock album covers. (No Blue Note jazz albums, it wouldn't be fair. They kick ass.)-Best cover songs. -Most under/over rated bands.-Best album since (insert year here.)-Top 100 FAVORITE* bands. (*Not who is the best, but who is your favorite. For example, Wilco is my favorite band - shocking, I know - but I think The Beatles are the best band. Yet, they'd only rank 3rd or 4th on my favorites list.) -Best b-sides of all time. Any other ideas?
jff
Any other ideas? -Most obvious attempts by the Rolling Stones and/or Kiss to keep up with ever changing trends.
blrssp
Here's my top 25; self imposed restrictions of no comps, no live albums, and limiting generally to the rock genre and its offshoots (no straight jazz or classical, in other words). 1. Neil Young – Everybody Knows This is Nowhere 2. King Crimson – Red 3. Frank Zappa – Hot Rats 4. Rolling Stones – Exile on Main Street5. Brian Eno – Another Green World6. Sonic Youth – Daydream Nation 7. Pavement – Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain 8. Bob Dylan – Highway 61 Revisited 9. Genesis – Selling England By the Pound10. Frank Zappa – Absolutely Free 11. Mahavishnu Orchestra – Inner Mounting Flame12. Soft Machine -- Third13. Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin IV14. Elvis Costello – This Year’s Model 15. Yes – Close To The Edge 16. Steely Dan – Pretzel Logic 17. Jimi Hendrix – Axis: Bold as Love18. Talking Heads – Remain in Light19. The Band – The Band 20. Can -- Ege Bamyasi21. Bob Dylan – Bringing it All Back Home 22. Beastie Boys – Paul’s Boutique 23. Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin 24. Flying Burrito Brothers -- Gilded Palace Of Sin25.
