AFlyOnTheWall of the LOFT
Have you ever noticed that Another Man's Done Gone is pretty much the ground floor for Rhythm? The piano is played in the same style with very similar chords and Jeff's vocal phrasing in both songs is like a mirror image of each other. I enjoy both songs immensely though, although if I was forced to give a nod to one or the other, Rhythm would probably take the prize due to my relation to the subject. Scalzunfield
Someone tell me if I'm wrong but wasn't Another Man Done Gone written by Bragg while Rhythm was a Tweedy/Bennett composition? Edit:Another Man's Done Gone is by Bragg for sure. They do sound kind of similar but there's still a lot of major differences to keep me from declaring it a total rip. I got the impression from the Kot book, that Jay actually wrote the music to Another Man's Done Gone, but Bragg got the solo credit for it. --Mike
Guest Cousin Tupelo
I got the impression from the Kot book, that Jay actually wrote the music to Another Man's Done Gone, but Bragg got the solo credit for it. --Mike In Kot, Bennett cliamed Bragg came to him with a simple 3-chord structure, Bennett elaborated and flushed out on piano, and Tweedy wandered in towards the end of his work and laid the vocals on top. Guthrie's daughter was supposedly there as it was recorded and everyone there was just floored. Bennette said basically he wrote the music, Tweedy developed the vocal melody and Bragg took the credit.

entropy
Have you ever noticed how you never see Jeff and Colin Powell in the same room at the same time? I'm just saying. Think about it. ..
