uncool2pillow
All the kids at the school I teach have their cell phones out soon after the bell rings. I hope this is unwarranted fear. Pittsburgh cancer center warns of cell phone risks
bjorn_skurj
is contrary to numerous studies that don't find a link between cancer and cell phone use Herberman is basing his alarm on early unpublished data. He says it takes too long to get answers from science and he believes people should take action now

uncool2pillow
Sad when scientists turn their back on science and its procedures. The fact that he admits he's not following scientific protocol doesn't diminish the fact that long-term studies may reveal harm. Cellular technology has exploded over the past decade. There have been articles linking the widespread use of wireless phones to the diminishing number of bees. Maybe, hopefully, this man's fear will be proven wrong, but the only reason science hasn't spoken on the long-term effects of cell phone usage on children is because the technology is still new. Guest Jules
I think there are problems with kids having cell phones that go well beyond the potential for contracting cancer.

bjorn_skurj
When data from scientific studies is unpublished, that means it hasn't been properly reviewed by other scientists yet and could be complete and utter bullshit. Plus, there's not much in that story about the methodology of the study, which could also be complete and utter bullshit, like the "scientists" who put a cell phone in the middle of a beehive and said it proved bees are annoyed by cell phones. The state of science education in this country is piss-poor, and is being exploited in this case, I suspect, by a showboating doctor and a cynical media. If the guy REALLY has respect for science and its procedures, he would have waited until his data was peer-reviewed.
