John Smith Posted August 7, 2008 Share Posted August 7, 2008 Bruce released an EP of Magic Tour Highlights. 4 songs each with a special guest. Alejandro Escovedo, Tom Morello, Roger McGuinn and Danny Federici. All the performances are great, but I especially love Bruce and Tom Morello doing Tom Joad. I've never developed any love for that song over the years, but this version is, to me at least, simply stunning. They trade guitar solos mid song, then Morello lets loose for the final couple minutes. Just a great performance riveting. Alejandro and Danny's performances are equally as moving. I was less impressed with Turn Turn Turn and Roger McGuinn, it just seemed a bit too cliche for me. It's not bad, just not nearly as good as the other three songs. I got the Itunes version which has a video of each song as well as the audio download. As far as I can tell it is only available as a download. Gobias Industries Posted August 8, 2008 Share Posted August 8, 2008 The Tom Joad was sweet until Tom Morello went all Rage Against the Machine on it and killed it. They were up on Youtube awhile back so I watched it and was like "sweet, this is awesome" and them Tom pulled out his whicky-whicky sound hooliganism and Joad's ghost died.
