jonbama
Anyone else heard this album? I'm really liking it.
myboyblue
Yes, it's great stuff. These guys, along with Elliot Brood, have been big finds for me this year thanks to VC. I haven't read much about either outside of this board.

solace
his old band, Verbena, were a killer rock band in the 90's as well, highly recommended
jonbama
Yeas, Verbena was supposedly going to turn Birmingham into the new Seattle. They were a big deal around these parts and everyone from the band has done pretty well on their own. Duquette (Daniel) Johnson's new one, Etowah, is solid and I am a fan of all of Taylor Hollingsworth's music.
CortezTheKiller
I love American Hearts and I second solace's rec on Verbena. Much different than American Hearts, but excellent nonetheless. Sounds like a punked up Stones to these ears.
myboyblue
Great, now I have to go get some Verbena.
mjpuczko
dammit! i still need to get this.
solace
Great, now I have to go get some Verbena. 'Into The Pink' was their most successful album. Dave Grohl produced it and 'Baby Got Shot' saw some decent MTV airtime, but a lot of people seem to prefer the debut 'Souls For Sale'. i actually didn't mind their "comeback" album 'La Musica Negra" either. Verbena actually introduced me to Idlewild... i saw them open for Verbena when I first moved to Mpls in either late '99 or early '00.
uwmryan
though it was released last year, American Hearts is probably the album I've listened to the most this year.
Wilco LP #7
I haven't, but I saw him open for The Felice Brothers and he was wonderful.
CortezTheKiller
Great article on A.A. Bondy from Jambase.
nodep5
I saw him mentioned on Muzzle of Bees blog site yesterday. I listened to a little bit of his album via song clips and wasn't overly impressed, but he sounds real nice on his Daytrotter session. Anyway, I use to own his previous band's album Verbena Souls For Sale. I was living in Bham at the time and the local record store was promoting these local boys pretty hard. Listen to "The Song That Ruined Your Career" from that album.
