I ran into this after searching for a pic of this RI sandwich called the triple bypass, basically epic portions of bacon, sausage, pastrami, topped off with a few eggs and served between 2 grilled cheeses.

Anyone else have any other local overeating delicacies they would like to share?

Slow's BBQ, Corktown, Detroit

"Triple Threat Pork $7.95

Bacon, pulled pork & ham stacked high on the bread of your choice. Heeyah! Git some!"

Soo goood. And cheap!

I have to get back there sometime. I've only been once, and I don't remember what I had, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't it.

Its a before the Tigers game regular. Of course, I miss the first couple of innings trying to digest it.

My one visit was before Wilco's show at the Fox. :thumbup

This isn't an epic meal, as such, but there used to be a place in Kalamazoo many years ago called The High Wheeler. They had an extensive menu of ice cream creations -- sundaes and banana splits and whatever else, dozens of variations.

They also had a standing contest that required a team of two entrants to eat the "Party Wheel," which was a huge thing intended for ten people, in half an hour (or maybe it was an hour, I forget). Successfully completing that challenge qualified the entrants for a monthly(?) contest in which each competitor had to eat the "Bicycle Built For Two" (which, as the name implies, was intended for two people) as quickly as possible.

I never entered, but I always wanted to.

I remember a place in Kalamazoo that had burritos "As Big As Your Head". Having a big head, I never attempted to order one. I can't remember what that place is called though.

It was called La Bamba.

Sadly, the Kalamazoo location has been closed for several years. There are others still scattered about the Midwest.

Wasnt't the High Wheeler on top of West Main Hill, near Tiffany's liquor store? If that's the place cryptique is talking about, they had some awesome ice cream from what I remember.

You're probably thinking of the Carousel, which was first a block west of Tiffany's and later in the same strip mall as Tiffany's. I went to the elementary school across the street and used to stop in at both Tiffany's and the Carousel pretty often when walking home.

I remember two High Wheeler locations: the main one at the northeast corner of Westnedge and Kilgore (same complex as Roller World), and the other on the lower level of the Hilton/Radisson downtown.

Ahhh yes, The Carousel was the one I was thinking about. And I remember going to the High Wheeler after pizza at Shaky's.

From the Hilltop in L'Anse, MI.

spin2.gif

It IS as big as your head!

Looks like I need to get to the Hilltop!!!

Cinnamon rolls would make my favorite dessert list for sure, sadly our Cinnabon left years ago :ohwell

The last time I saw a Cinnabon was when I was stuck in the Cleveland Airport last summer. I was laid over for 5 hours, I discovered the Cinnabon right before the plane started to board, so tragically I didn't get the chance to have one :ohwell
