euthe
I've been a lurker for some time and joined recently to interact a little. I don't know if there has been an official "thank you" thread to the persons responsible for the owl and bear archive so I wanted to make a thread. There is so much work put into that site it's unbelievable, and to provide it free is outstanding considering the content it's filled with. Not only did it allow me to review their current lineup compared to what they were in the mid nineties (I didn't have the opportunity to listen back then), the layout and configuration of the site is impressive. I got cute and tried to use wget to grab tracks but the technical prowess of the webmaster clearly triumphed - not only pleasant to the eye, but sound to the code. I appreciate the hard work it must have taken to produce the site, and wanted to show you gratitude for providing it. Anyway, if this has already been posted, apologies, but I'd like to, on behalf of everyone here (I'm sure!), thank the people who collected and organized the tracks, designed the interface and payed for the bandwidth and hardware for hosting. It is truly a great undertaking and a website I am immensely grateful for. Also, for what it's worth, comparing the boulder jhamm dvd with the 2005 9:30 dvd I think the current lineup is unsurpassed by their original incarnation. I love the hackneyed, country style of past, but must say the new lineup can hit that nicely along with just taking it to another level. I'm sad I missed the original shows, as I'm sure they were amazing, but evolution is so much more exciting. Anyway, thank you again for providing a great archive!
