sleepymonkey
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
Virgil Caine
The Hampton Inn downtown is a nice place to stay, and it is within walking distance of the venue. The Crown Plaza is probably the most conveniently located for walking to the venue and restaurants/bars, but I have never stayed there so I can't vouch for it.
Three dollars and 63 cents
I stayed at the Hilton this summer when I was in town to see Nels play. I have no idea how close it is to the theater, but it's an easy walk (around 10 minutes) from some restaurants and bars. I got a really good deal on a room, either via AAA or hotels.com. I think with tax it was around $110 or so. It was nice, clean, well-lit at night, and had a reasonable price for parking and friendly staff. Is that major construction project still going on? I-40 was a mess right around the exit for downtown when I was there. It got really confusing.
Ziggy
Is that major construction project still going on? I-40 was a mess right around the exit for downtown when I was there. It got really confusing. It is. Just follow all signs to downtown and get off at the Henley St exit, which takes you right into downtown. Unless coming from the east(Asheville). Then you will have to get off at Hall of Fame Dr. Turn left and take it to Summit Hill Dr. Take a right on Summit Hill and you are downtown. The Hampton Inn, Hilton, Crown Plaza, and Holiday Inn Select are all less than a 10 minute walk to the venue, with the Hilton probably being the closest. All are nice hotels but some of the Holiday Inn Select's rooms aren't updated. There is also a Four Points by Sheraton that is walking distance, but it is closer to campus bars/restaurants than downtown (still only a 15 minute walk or so). watch me fall
I was wondering about the I-40 construction myself. I'm already nervous about driving in the mountains, so my nerves should be shot by the time I find downtown Knoxville. Thanks for the info, Ziggy. I noticed some of the hotels are putting construction detour directions on their websites, too.

I think so, unless there is a special event going on. There is also a parking garage on Market Square with free parking on nights and weekends.
