soundboy
Athens is a great time, this was the first time Wilco was at Ohio University. Great vibe to the show, saw them from Row b (2nd row) Stage left. Spring was in the air way down in Athens county. Jeff's hair was teazed for encores.

bobvandelay
Great concert! This was time #8 for me and my wife and they really brought it last night. I don't know if it was the small venue, but they sounded A LOT louder than normal. Crank to 11 rock n' roll. The crowd was into it too which was great to see. Worth the 4 hour drive from Cleveland. Athens is a great place. Plus, we had a chance to chat the guys up and asked them to sign our Ashes of American Flag DVD after the show! Anyone know it there were any tapers at the show? I'd like to get a copy of this one.
DAngerer09
glad you all had a good time, liked athens and that some of you checked out casa. seems like a pretty vanilla set list, though. especially after those first 2 milwaukee nights.
nosignal
I was at this show, it was my second time seeing wilco and MAN! it was awesome, I had a great time, I was in the second row right in the middle, I was really excited that I got such great seats.I did find it a bit odd that they didn't play any new songs, but oh well I can't complain one bit about the show, though i do have a complaint about the new dvd packaging. I was walking outside and I started taking off the plastic wrap around the dvd and after i got it off, before i even opened the case, the dvd fell out right onto the sidewalk. I was quite saddened by that event, but it still plays okay. Anyway, I really hope they come back through here soon. I hope everyone had fun at the show! also, i too want to know if any tapers were there, id love to have a copy of the set
rickbreckler
A couple highlights for me...Jeff facing his microphone all the way around and basically putting his back to the audience during Heavy Metal Drummer so he could sing right to Glen. I seem to remember him doing this in the past, but tonight it was for probably most of the song. Also, Jeff's "in this economy" cracks were pretty good. A small chunk of the first 4 rows was pretty on-again/off-again about standing until the band came out for the first encore...then they were all standing. Jeff immediately made a reference about them finally getting up, and then said (something like) "these people are like 'I'm not standing up, not in this economy. I'm gonna save my energy.'" Then, when he was prodding Glen to do his pose before ITMWLY, Glen was acting reserved about it as usual. Jeff made the comment (again, something like) "come one, Glen, in this economy?" And something about people needing their money's worth and that Glen shouldn't ruin it again. That was funny stuff. It was a great time in Athens. Casa was nice, Jackie O's was nice, the Pub was awful for me, because we were the oldest people in there. Really great town, though. The Burrito Buggy adds to the experience at the end of the night. Leo
Really good show. After reading the Bloomington reviews, I was worried. But Jeff sang with great passion and Nels was on, especially the Germany solo. Jesus. Poor Places.Hey Jess. Great meeting you and Tim.Always a highlight spending time with F'nrain. Dude. dylan_1
This was my first Wilco concert and they absolutely rocked! But I think the best part was when Tweedy said to the crowd "yeah, tomorrow is going to be your lucky day and find a $20 bill in pair of old blue jeans you haven't worn in awhile".Here's the best part....leaving my seat at the show...what do I find on the floor? a 20!!! weird............. kidsmoke
I'm pretty sure that was mine. Was it like, green, and white, with numbers in the corners?
MadMonkey
Show was awesome. This was the 20th for me and 5th for my son and 3rd for my 8 y/o daughter. We made a weekend out of it traveling form VA. My daughter was a little reserved in the beginning. I think a good Dad would have thought about the earplugs prior to the show. I dropped the ball on that one. She warmed up by "Spiders" and got her boggie on. Did anyone else catch Jeff dropping the "I know your just a Momma's boy...." on the dude who screamed during "Misunderstood". I just don't dig the whole screaming at the band during a song especially one that slips in to quiet reflection. I know a lot of people dig it,so to each their own. Slowly chipping away at the songs I need to hear live, I can cross "Shouldn't be Ashamed" of the list. I think I only have 10 -12 more of the catalogue but I think soem of those are going to be pretty hard to get. They got a rare treat in Knoxville I see. We were debating Athens vs. that show when they were announced. Glad we picked Athens b/c it was a wonderful time.
dylan_1
I caught the "Momma's Boy" thing....I laughed. I wanted to hear his story, but the guy shouted out "noo, rock and roll". I was a lil miffed. Then Tweedy went on about wikipedia and camels......"ya learn something everyday".
MadMonkey
My son answered and it looked like Jeff looked right at him when he said "No. both" I laughed. His hair was also killing me.
Wendy
I was at this show, it was my second time seeing wilco and MAN! it was awesome, I had a great time, I was in the second row right in the middle, I was really excited that I got such great seats.I did find it a bit odd that they didn't play any new songs, but oh well I can't complain one bit about the show, though i do have a complaint about the new dvd packaging. I was quite saddened by that event, but it still plays okay. Anyway, I really hope they come back through here soon. I hope everyone had fun at the show! also, i too want to know if any tapers were there, id love to have a copy of the set I was at the Bloomington show, and I noticed the pattern of essentially no new songs in the shows preceeding ours (and we got 0 in Bloomington and Knoxville). I think everybody really expected to hear some new songs on this tour. So I asked Jeff about this when we went through the DVD signing line at Disc Exchange in Knoxville, and he said they were touring to promote the DVD (which does not have any new songs on it), and he also said they decided to do it a little different this time and not perform the unreleased songs much until closer to the album release time. So, there ya go. At least that's what he said then -- he could certainly make a liar out of me at tonight's show and play a bunch of new songs.
