SarahC
I took my sister to see the Avett Brothers in our hometown of Chattanooga this past Saturday, and thought I would post about it. What a show it was! It was almost worth missing Wilco in Knoxville! My sister was definitely pumped, because the Avetts are her favorite band. The Tivoli is an interesting place to see a rock show. It's sister theatre is in Knoxville (the Bijou) and it's designed for symphonies. The sound was great the whole night though, nothing to complain about there. The crowd was decent too, though apparently most of the annoyances were up in the top balcony and not down in the lodge where me and sister were camped out. The Avetts sure to know how to put on a show! 200% energy from the get go! I was very impressed with how smooth they had instrument change outs, and how they made you feel like you were apart of the show. The coolest part was the song before the encore, they had a sing-a-long going and we kept it going while they were off the stage "da da da da da *clap* whoo!" I was so impressed we all kept it together while the band was gone for a couple minutes. That's never happened at any show I've seen! "Colorshow" was very intense! Here's the setlist I found off the Avett board: ShameDie Die DieLaundry DoorGimmeakissLove Like the MoviesParanoiaBallad of Love and HatePretty Girl From Chile>The Greatest Sum (Electric)Distraction #74Kickdrum Heart>I & Love & YouColorshowMurdered in the CityWhen I DrinkNovember BlueGo To Sleep EncoreNew SongLate in Life I got a bunch of videos too, working on getting them on youtube, but for now here are pictures: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=7452...mp;l=8863882b82 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=7452...mp;l=25c62e8050 We got to meet them after the show, and they were so genuinely nice! They really are sincerely appreciative of their fans, and that was cool to see. Bob was my favorite to talk to because he just started talking to us, it wasn't the least bit awkward talking to any of them, but Bob was hysterical!
Elixir Sue
I'm glad you had fun! My only issue is: where's Salina??? They didn't play it Friday night, either.

DawgSong
Sarah, it was indeed a great night. I have been looking at youtube in hopes someone has the"sing-a-long" last song which you mention. What a great moment it was. For some of the ol DEADHEADS hereit reminded me of the sing-off/clap of a second set NFA until the boys come backout for encore. Smiles all around. welch79
it was a hard decision this past saturday night...wilco or avetts. i hate that they played on the same night so geographically close. both are bands on top of their live act. the avetts always put on a solid show, burning lots of calories in the process! wilco won. but i live close to knoxville and had close floor seats. i really can't wait to see them again.
