Kalle
Both riffs are chromatic, I think the similarities end there.
grateful dead
I guess I'm not even saying the songs are similar, just that one riff. I love both a lot

grateful dead
The comparsions go on and on and on (we'll be together yeah) That happens with any songwriter tho jeff has his style of playing and singing melodies
Theremin
Oh my God, is there nothing original about this album??
grateful dead
Oh my God, is there nothing original about this album?? It really is natural for any human to copy himself or others without even realizing it I accept it
mfwahl
I'll Fight = On and On and OnI played the new record for my fiancee. During I'll Fight she said "I love this song, but wasn't it on the last one?"
holyshit
This is the wrong place for this discussion, but yes---parts of the melodies in "On and On" and "I'll Fight" are identical. It's such a direct lift, in fact--- and on the very next album---that I suspect it's not an accident. One of the most satisfying elements of a really good lyric is its complexity, and the twists and turns of meaning it can take when it makes a direct hit onto another skull. But if anyone wants to suss out how "I'll Fight"---a song superficially about a substitute warrior---might tie into the everlasting everything theme of "On and On", they should probably head elsewhere! jdmel
Help me out, here. I don't get the "Walken" connection. Great music to wash the dishes to. Yea, exactly... It's kinda bouncy, maybe its more of the inverse Walken, but the vibe and tweedy's voice in both.
