Three dollars and 63 cents
This is a great album, probably my favorite Nels-related album of the year. I've mentioned it in a few other threads, but both iTunes and Amazon's mp3 store are selling it at an EP's price, both under $4. I haven't gotten around to getting a hard copy yet but do definitely plan to. Watt's songwriting for each band member is really very keen. It really makes me kick myself for missing the Central Park show last summer. I was planning on going, then couldn't find an affordable hotel and decided to scrap the trip. Nels' engagement has been mentioned on here. I think it was actually Watt who posted about it in his blog, and somebody posted a link here. There may have been some other mention; I'm not on here as much as I used to be. It's terrific news. Beyond that, though, what else could we say that wouldn't be either speculative or gossipy? I think it would be nice if we respected his right to keep his personal life out of the spotlight.
jff
It's terrific news. Beyond that, though, what else could we say that wouldn't be either speculative or gossipy? Nothing, really. I don't care to dig into anyone's private life or spread gossip. It just surprises me that there hasn't been a congratulatory thread...considering happy birthday threads, and that type of thing, are pretty common. Watt mentions Nels' wedding a lot. Watt's in Japan touring on his new album now, which was timed to allow him to be there for Nels' wedding.
aricandover
Downtown Music Gallery wrote up the Floored By Four release for this week's newsletter (I'm sort of surprised that the bold portion hasn't gotten more attention around here): I'm more surprised by this Mike Watt was a founding member of Firehouse

MarkyMark77
Mike Watt has had a great impact on my bass playing style. I wore out his first solo record, as well fIREHOSE (the lack of a "u" is very important!) discs and the second Porno for Pyros record, basically just to hear his playing. It's bludgeoning and melodic all at the same time. Cline and Watt should form a serious band, not just a side project.

I assume you've heard Watt's Contemplating the Engine Room? There's another Watt album with Nels on it awaiting release. Hopefully that'll come out sometime this year.
