Wendy
Wow - that's a long interview. I don't know anything about this guy (and I obviously need to! What I heard was great!!!) but it was nice to hear him mention Jay Bennett. Thanks for the link.
hardwood floor
Tommy is an all-time great. As brilliant as he is as a songwriter, he's just as good a guitar player. And a great singer. And just phenomenal live. If you like edgy, crunchy melodic guitar pop jammed with hooks, check out Tommy. All-time top-10 artist for me.

Would you or anyone care to rank the top 5 (or whatever) albums for a newbie? He's been around awhile and I'd love to hear what you all consider his best.

Moss
Would this be the guy that's on the Keene Brotheres album with Robert Pollard I assume? I have been wanting that but they only had the vinyl at the local record store and $25 was too steep for me.

people are leaving
Keene Brothers record is brilliant The Keene Brothers is a true "rock" record in every sense of the word. It's also one of the best things Pollard has ever done.

howdjadoo
Could sendspace this if there's any interest: Tommy Keene 1984 Reflection Studios, Charlotte, NC (STU) Outtakes from Songs From The Film Tommy KeeneReflection StudiosCharlotte, NC1984 01 Call On Me02 Run Now03 Fall Down Too04 The Story Ends05 Gold Town Total Time: 17:30 Tommy Keene: Guitar and VocalsBilly Connelly: Guitar and VocalsTed Nicely: BassDoug Tull: Drums Produced by T-Bone Burnett and Don Dixon As most Tommy Keene fans know, the album "Songs From The Film" was essentially recorded twice, first with T-Bone Burnett and Don Dixon producing, and then again, for the version that was ultimately released, with Geoff Emerick producing. Some of the Burnett/Dixon recordings were later released on the "Run Now" vinyl EP. Those tracks, plus a few more outtakes, were then included on the 1998 CD reissue of "Songs From The Film." These five tunes are recordings from the original sessions that remain unreleased. Four of them were re-recorded for the second version of the album, but none of these particular recordings appear on any officially released version of "Songs From The Film." I believe these are unfinished mixes, as I've heard more polished versions of some of these songs.
