bobfrombob
OK, I know vinyl is staging a comeback but the newest Cheap Trick album is going to be available on 8 track. Did I miss something? http://cheaptrick.shop.musictoday.com/Product.aspx?cp=10_21036&pc=CTAM64
Sir Stewart
That's gotta be purely a novelty thing. 8-tracks are a nightmare.
Moss
I can't think of one re-deeming quality to an 8 track. Does anybody even have one that works anymore? I never had one last more than a year.
Analogman
I had a pretty cool 8-Track tape player - about 25 years ago. It looked like a small suitcase. Maybe they are taking a page from the Ten re-release. I think one of the editions of it had a cassette tape among the items in the package. Although I still have several hundred cassette tapes, I don't have a working cassette player anymore.
cryptique
They should release the album on reel-to-reel instead. That would truly rule.
John Smith
I wonder if this is for a specific niche market...people who drive 1970's era cars who don't want anything other than original or original-type gear in their cars.
LouieB
Maybe up in Rockford they still have a factory that makes these things. Clearly at 30 bucks a shot this is a true specialty item, since 8tracks were a pretty crappy (but innovative) technology. I can't imagine too many people still have players. Those who never experienced them, they often broke off in the middle of songs because there were four tracks. Crazy. LouieB
