Dude
Mature Third Eye Blind fans? http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/08/14/PKED194UL6.DTL Or are they "revenge breeders"? http://www.philebrity.com/2009/08/24/the-philebrity-lexicon-revenge-breeding/ I never liked 3EB and I haven't produced any Dudelings yet, so I'm not sure where I fall. jff
I'm not even close to fitting into either of those categories.
cryptique
Huh? None of the above. Don't like Third Eye Blind. Have no kids and never will.

WilcoFan
Anyhow, I don't even know how to respond to that article. For the record, I'm not against "It" but I'm not sure how well doing "It" translates into providing a quality environment for my children to grow up in. If I understand the meaning for revenge breeding, I don't think that the symptoms the author lists are in fact revenge breeding: charter schools, urban gentrification and Wilco merch for kids. It think the first two may be more indicative of parents trying to provide a homegenous neighborly and educational environment. -- Not to out-pro-create "undesirables." As for Wilco merch, I would suspect that there is a very common thread in WilcoFandom; Wilco fans' parents were probably very influential in shaping their child's love of an eclectic/diverse music. -- Wilco fans want to be just as influential as their parents were in their own kids' musical experiences. All I know is that Wilco should open up for Third Eye Blind.
Hoodoo Man
Damn! It's like that guy was in the room when I told my wife of my plan to have lots of kids, dress them in Wilco merchandise and one day take over the planet! Now that he's on to it, I better speed up the plan. Time to get my wife pregnant again and order more Wilco onesies.
MunkyKayse
Never been a fan of Third Eye Blind, but I do plan on clothing my children in Wilco-friendly clothing as soon as I start birthing them.
Dude
Anyhow, I don't even know how to respond to that article. It think the first two may be more indicative of parents trying to provide a homegenous neighborly and educational environment. -- Not to out-pro-create "undesirables." I think the article is supposed to be satirical in nature, sort of a sociological parody. If you've ever read or encountered the Official Preppy Handbook, this seems to be the kind of tone they are aiming for. EDIT: I only add this in case you took the whole premise seriously. If you were responding ironically yourself, then maybe I'm the one whose irony-meter needs to be adjusted.
WilcoFan
I got the satire. Reads kind of like every Pitchfork album review I ever read. Speaking of satire, there should be a satire font.

Sweet Papa Crimbo
i've never been to a 3EB concert, but it was the first "rock" album i ever owned as a kid. pretty solid album. I was in my late 30's when I got the first cd. How's it Gonna Be is still one of my go to songs How's it Gonna Be:?
cooperissup3r
London and Narcolepsy were my favorite tunes.
pmancini100
i dont get how child friendly wilco merchandise is similar to charter schools or urban gentrification. wilco is a good band, i would want to show my kids (if i had them.) that article sounded interesting at first, but it seems like it was written by a pseudo-intellectual pointing out the obvious. of course parents have a socio-political influence on their kids! to think otherwise is just completely stupid. this guy is pointing it out like its new or something EDIT: i just read the above post pointing out the satirical nature of the article. i totally thought it was serious.
