Shining Sunbeam
Does Wilco encourage, turn a blind eye to, or forbid, trading of bootleg CD's? I come to Wilco after years and years of accumulating Grateful Dead, Sprinsgteen, and Dylan boots. I'd like to get a few of Wilco, but don't want to violate the band's better nature or get myself in trouble on this board.
Guest Speed Racer
Hey, check out the "Various Wilco Downloads" thread pinned at the top of this thread for a really comprehensive archive of shows. You can also go down to the Greatest Lost Tracks of All Time part of the boards for a trading forum and torrent tracking. Also check out The DVD Project for various Wilco, Tweedy, UT and Son Volt DVDs.
Preferred B
From Wilco's Show Info and Policies page on their website: wilco does permit audio taping and trading of live performances wherever it does not conflict with venue or other restrictions beyond our control. we do not allow direct soundboard patches. we also do not allow videotaping. wilco supports the free trading of live recordings for non-commercial purposes. Shining Sunbeam
Thanks for the replies. What an awesome archive of material that is, and right under my nose all this time!
froggie
one thing i've wondered is if anyone has seen commercially-pressed silver bootlegs of Wilco on sale in record stores?? trading CDRs among fans is very common, but what about silvers on sale in shops? Analogman
There are a few Wilco older shows around that came from silver bootlegs. I would think as time goes on, you would find less and less of that sort of thing. Although, I don't have any record stores to go to, so what do I know. There was a thread here recently with a link to some idiot selling Wilco cdrs by way of Ebay. That sort of deal should always be reported. I do know for a certain other band, that the bootleg folks are now taking shows they get by way of BT, putting them on cds, adding artwork, and then selling them. I find that hilarious. There is simply no need to buy such things.
