jimmyjimmy
Absolutely. His name comes up from time to time in the "Now Reading" thread. I've got the new one, "Invisible" but haven't gotten to it yet. Brooklyn Follies, Book of Illusions, Leviathan are all great reads.
Sir Stewart
One of my favorites - there was a stretch of time back there when he was my favorite working writer; for me, his run of Moon Palace, The Music of Chance, Leviathan and Mr. Vertigo is as good as anyone's. Favorites-wise, it's a toss-up between The Music of Chance and Moon Palace. It's kind of befuddling that he's known for Timbuktu, which didn't really move me.I recommend the movie Smoke (and if you like that, its companion piece Blue In The Face, both of which he wrote or co-wrote).I haven't read a newer one of his since The Brooklyn Follies, which I read recently and didn't like. The last 'new' one I enjoyed was The Book of Illusions, though it's kind of dry.He gives good interview, too.
Oil Can Boyd
I love Paul Auster. I think my favorites are New York Trilogy, Moon Palace, and Music of Chance. The movie of Music of Chance was pretty good, although I saw it a long time ago. His new one got a glowing review in the New York Times Book Review; they say it is the best novel he has written.
