cosplusisin
I went to the concert tonight and it was amazing. This was my 4th time seeing a proper Wilco concert, and it may have been the best. Really good song selection, and sound quality, and energy. Jeff was his usual funny self. I didn't write anything down, but I'm sure someone will post the setlist soon. Setlist was a lot of the usual songs, plus some not-as-usual songs (at least in my experience). personal highlights: Remember The Mountain Bed (Jeff mentioned it had been requested it on the website, and I actually requested it!), SUMMERTEETH (another internet request according to Jeff), How To Fight Loneliness, Broken Arrow - I saw the youtube clips, but being there in person for that is just a whole different thing. What an amazing experience. After that song, Jeff said something like "since it's president's day in the U.S., we thought we'd play that song for you by the president of Canada." and when very few people responded (i thought it was hilarious), he said "come on, you DO know that song, right?" (lots of cheering). "you BETTER!" it was awesome. Such a wonderful cover of a wonderful song. You can tell they love it. Bull Black Nova - was INTENSE live. I liked it on the album, and I LOVED it live. they opened with Sunken Treasure, which was very cool (my first time hearing it live). I was surprised that they did only one encore - i thought they usually do two (i might be wrong though). But they still played for about 2 hours and 20 minutes, from start to finish, so I don't know - i'm definitely not complaining, only a little surprised. i was surprised at a few songs they DIDN'T play - heavy metal drummer and spiders, especially. but that's definitely ok with me, having seen these songs a few times. and i would have liked "You and I", but i'm not complaining. this band is so awesome live, and SO good to its fans. huge kudos to Wilco - you rocked Edmonton tonight. and we loved it. keylime
Summerteeth! That sounds lovely. I'm glad it was a good show! I hope they continue to play more than one internet request, I've been hard at work requestin' on their site.
crowesfan28
Awesome show! There was only one encore, but it was good, and long. The Song,Broken Arrow(with Mr Soul tease),Hoodoo Voodoo, Casino Queen, I'm A Wheel and one other, I think.Sunken Treasure and Mountain Bed were awesome, haven't heard them since the Red's show and the Folk Fest show. What was up with Wilco, The Song? Were we the first to hear that version? I haven't listened to many of the live recordings from this tour.Hope you all enjoyed the Family Day show, with your pootin and mulch pie! Oh, and the posters were pretty cool for this show/tour, too. crowesfan28 edit - Did anybody notice any tapers? I'd love to have a copy of this one.
cosplusisin
The other encore song was Via Chicago, right after Broken Arrow. Wilco the song was awesome. I thought it was a perfect start to the encore too. When they came back, before they played anything, Jeff said, "now you won't be able to get rid of us" (which met many cheers). Wilco will love us, indeed! and we love Wilco! and yeah, that was a weird version. To anyone who wasn't there, there was an interesting/weird thing during the end of that song, but Jeff said "We're still working on that... don't tell anyone in Calgary - shhhh". and there was a bit of a screw up with the weird thing too. I think i'll wait until a recording surfaces before going into detail, you know, keep it a surprise. or at least - i won't be the one to let the cat out of the bag. But don't you want to let it out of the bag? You know, to ruin a surprise for Calgarians! It's the Edmonton way isn't it? I know they would do the same to us! crowesfan28

AJ673
Shot in the Arm - Mikael pounding on the keys with a cushion!Hate it here - Jeff holding his guitar by the strings as one had broken with the impending sense of get me something else before my next partNels - amazing as always - the man needs a five foot safety radius around him so as to not take anyone else out in the processCalifone - we thought were awesome, despite some technical probs (amp conking out, strings breaking, etc...) They were also in charge of the merch table and were extremely friendly, especially after learning that it was my daughters first concert. (I couldn't imagine taking her to anything else). We bumped into one of them during a quick stretch break during Wilco's set, and he said to my daughter "Are you having fun?", which was met with a blank stare until she took her headphones off to hear him... Despite not playing the song she requested (she had spent the whole day making them a sign out of paper and popsicle sticks saying how much she loved it in case they did) it was neat when Jeff mentioned that this was the 3rd time they played the Jube in Edmonton and that now we seem to bring 1/4 size fans back with us! I'll try and post a setlist soon, not too many changes from Victoria I think. Very sad now - have to wait another 2 years or so my my next live Wilco experience... auctioneer69
Including "Broken Arrow" we are up to approximately 46 different songs in 6 shows. Not too shabby at all especially since Vancouver was a festival like set-up. Much love for "AGIB". By my reckoning the only songs not played from it so far are "Less Than You Think" and "Company In My Back".

Yeah, I remember the big reddish hollow body hanging by his strings. and those rocky riffs being played on a telecaster in the second half of the song. yes, that was pretty awesome. another thing about this show - i took my sister, and it was her first time seeing Wilco. she isn't a fan like me, but i told her she has to go. she was VERY impressed!
