Mr. Heartbreak
I was planning to play Waiting for Columbus this weekend for the first time in a while...weird. http://www.spinner.com/2010/08/13/richie-hayward-little-feat-dead/?icid=main|netscape|dl2|link4|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.spinner.com%2F2010%2F08%2F13%2Frichie-hayward-little-feat-dead%2F
Doug C
Damn. Liver cancer. A serious battle. I am a Little Feat fan but never saw them. I did see Richie Hayward. New Years Eve circa 1988, I saw X and Warren Zevon at Busch Gardens. Hayward was playing drums for Zevon. Warren was very excited that he was sitting in. For some reason I've always remembered Zevon introducing his band. He was beaming when he said, "on drums Richie Hayward. How did I get him?". Now they are both gone. If they aren't jamming again, the afterlife is no great shakes.
Vacant Horizon
i was lucky enough to see justice league in the early 00s. kind of an offshoot of jazz is dead. great drummer from a great band. RIP i guess he just played last month. it's amazing how these dudes really do play till the end.
uncool2pillow
Very sad. An obit in the Des Moines Register this AM as he was an Iowa native.
jff
I had no idea he died, or that he was sick. That's too bad. He was a great drummer with a unique sound and feel. I saw Little Feat open for the Allman Brothers in the '90s, but I think that's the only time I ever say Richie in concert.
