The High Heat
I loved listening to Ron Santo on the radio. Won't be the same without him. R.I.P.

rareair
never lost his sense of humor or genuine love of the cubs. i will miss hearing him mutter to himself during the late innings as the cubs found a new way to lose day after day, year after year. RIP.

Hoodoo Man
It's a sad day for sure. It would have been nice for him to make the Hall before passing. For those familiar with his story and how he coped with the health issues he was dealt, he is an inspiration. RIP No. 10.
calvino
Pat Hughes reflects on 15 years with Santo Nice piece by Hughes. Santo's Brant Brown drop ball call was one the best.
The High Heat
Reminiscing (with my post) from this past summer: Posted 17 July 2010 - 03:25 PMRon Santo was vintage today: On Jayson Werth's beard: "He'd be doing better if he shaved it off. It's too heavy - it's weighing him down." When Carlos Marmol was on the verge of blowing the game, but still had a chance to save it, Pat Hughes said, "The Phillies are down to their last out." Santo mutters, "I'm down to my last out." Marmol did, of course, blow it. Santo spent the rest of the game beside himself. "Oh jeez. You can't do that. Jesus Christ. Oh jeez."
