smells like flowers
Yes, it is kind of cheesy, in my opinion. The question: why do you ask? I'm curious, as one of a few who doesn't really love the Avetts. (Lots of folks I know think they're great; I just don't see anything exciting or new in what they do -- admittedly, quite well.) caliber66
He asks because he is insecure about his musical tastes and is hoping someone will say it's cheesy so he can get his feelings hurt.
Vacant Horizon
i always wonder what well trained session musicians say to each other about the utter mediocrity of the stuff they have to play to make a living.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBER9mPpyWk&feature=g-vrec Why would you ask? If you like it,fine. If you don't, equally fine.Nobody is expected or required to voice or defend their opinions. Me, I kind of like it. IRememberDBoon
The reason I ask is Im kinda interested in the "that music is cheesy" crowd. I know one thing in this case. The Avetts are taking risks and shooting for the moon. Music that feeds the soul. Same thing with Dave Matthews and those against him. Grateful Dead before that. Im an old Dead Kennedys Bad Brains Sex Pistols and Minor Threat fan that was actually at the shows. And I still love the hippie bands as well. Heres a perfect example of a show that I was at

lamradio
that crust doesnt look very good I agree.. But is it cheesy? Speaking of the Avetts, they got a shout out on Dexter last night. That Hispanic babysitter chick and the computer geek dude (who is getting shadier and shadier every episode) were going to go see them in concert.
SarahC
I love the Avett Brothers. They blend old style instruments with excellent lyrics that speak to my generation, but are sensible enough for my 79-year-old grandfather to tap his toe to.
lamradio
They are the peoples band. They are pretty big, but I'm surprised they aren't even bigger.
