SarahC
I don't want to get to personal here on VC, but the other day at work I ran into a coworker partaking in illegal substances while on the job. I proceeded to ignore them and go about my business, but now I'm nervous, wondering if I should tell the HR dept or what to do... Have any of you guys been in a similar situation? ih8music
Only if he/she is a bus driver or operates heavy machinery or something similar where your coworker's being high could result in someone getting injured or killed. Otherwise, I'd stay quiet and let your coworker deal with the eventual consequences of being high on the job. It'll catch up sooner or later. (Obviously, if you consider this person a friend this would be a good opportunity to intervene and help them get straightened out.)
SarahC
Yeah, I don't really think I'm gonna say anything. It sucks, but I don't know them well enough to really step in and try to intervene.
kidsmoke
ih8music makes sense. It's going to catch up with the person, and more likely sooner than later. So let those whose job it is to police the employees do their thing, unless, as he said, there is some sort of danger involved. The employee's higher-ups have probably already noticed this person's unique fragrance. Did the person see you seeing him/her partake? If so, their paranoia has probably already kicked in, which might be enough to make them knock it off, at least on the job.
