pnk
About this time last year I was the elated winner of the Wilco Haiku contest. The band very generously awarded me a 2009 faded-series Gibson SG, signed by everyone in the band, and I was gobsmacked. I had been having trouble coming up with the money for a new guitar, which I badly needed, so winning the contest was incredibly lucky for me. After having played the guitar for a few months early last year, I came to the conclusion that it wasn't really what I was looking for. I gave myself a "beggars can't be choosers" speech for a while and stuck with it. Though I am a Wilco fan and genuinely excited by owning this cool piece of memorabilia, I am also on the picky side when it comes to instruments, and this one just wasn't cutting it for me. I'm still not quite financially liquid enough that I can simply hang this guitar on the wall and go buy another; I need to sell it to meet my personal rock'n'roll needs. But before I go put it up on eBay, I figured folks in this community should at least be made aware that it's available in case someone wanted a chance at owning it (or making somebody else very happy this Christmas). It's been set-up professionally by Gryphon in Palo Alto, CA, and the consensus over there is that it's worth $500, autographs or not, and probably more to a Wilco fan. I'd be very happy to sell it to someone here for $500, rather than letting it get bid up out on eBay. It's still in excellent condition, and though it's been played it has also been very well cared for. Someone is going to love this guitar -- hopefully it's one of you guys. First-come, first-served. If you are seriously interested send me a private message and we can work out the details. Paul
SarahC
Just sent you a message. I missed the part where you were looking for $500 though... if I weren't a college student and only working part time. *sigh* I wrote so many damned haikus trying to win that thing! pnk
Thanks for all the responses, y'all. Looks like I've got a buyer, and I'm really pleased it's staying in the "family," as it were. For the curious, here's a picture:
