dagwave
I just stumbled across this. I apologize if this has already been posted- the Slate article is all about different artists who have covered this song, and includes a link to Jeff and Jay mp3 from the Old Town school of Folk Music. http://www.slate.com...f_the_song.html
choo-choo-charlie
I love that version. That whole set from 1999 is outstanding.

choo-choo-charlie
I think the good fellow over at Captain's Dead has it as well. Yep. Mp3's.
choo-choo-charlie
Just decided to revisit this set again. It's one of the best, a must for anyone who collects Wilco recordings. Good banter and great interplay between Jeff and Jay. Those shows had some sloppy charm to them, little imperfections peppered throughout the performance. No setlists, you can hear Jeff and Jay off-mic talking about what to play next. And Jay's musical ideas never ran dry; it's almost as if he was working out new sounds, licks, fills and runs right there in the moment onstage.

Sitting in the grass close to the stage. They were only two guys on a big stage in front of a somewhat large and spread out crowd in Welles Park. I think I remember the sun setting behind them as they played. I was so glad when this sbd recording started circulating. It sure is a fun listen and illustrates quite a different era for Wilco/Tweedy.
calvino
It's a good one - don't remember why I missed the show - the recording is great.

Stage banter, about midway through the set, from Tweedy: "Hey! The sun went away...imagine that."
