Ghost of Electricity
I never realized that he was the one who hit the record button when Marilyn Monroe sang Happy Birthday to Kennedy.
Mr. Heartbreak
Me neither! I guess I've got quite a few records with his name on the back...
Ghost of Electricity
I used to listen to Billy Joel a lot as a kid- still have a soft spot for everything up until about the Nylon Curtain era. Much of that was Phil Ramone. Also, he produced (and/or engineered?) the NY sessions for Blood On The Tracks, which is an all-time favorite of mine. Quite a career. Rest in Peace. Fritz
One band not mentioned in the article above is The Band. I'm sure I remember him being interviewed on a doco I have somewhere where he was speaking of the Rock of Ages live album and how fond he was of the sound on that album. I've just looked it up and it turns out he was one of the engineers on the record.
