Meyerhoff Symphony Hall Baltimore, MD Review. Anyone else go to this show?

Recommended Posts

Morning all,

I do a lot of viewing but not posting. I am interested in knowing if anyone else here went to the Baltimore show? When I bought the tickets

I was expecting a night with Jeff solo. When it was announced that this would be a coming out party tour for TWEEDY I was mixed emotionally about it. I was driving 195 miles from Northern Jersey to make this evening happen and with having to juggle making arrangements for my 9 and 12 year old daughters to stay at a friends overnight it was more than just driving to the Wellmont in Montclair NJ for 2 glorious nights of Wilco like what happened a few years ago. Being a seasoned Dead Head from the late 80's early 90's these trips in 1 day were not uncommon. At 44 years old they take on a different feel. I chose front row balcony seats instead of floor seats when I studied the layout of the hall and was so glad I did. We actually had the whole section to ourselves which was strange and beautiful all at the same time. Once TWEEDY walked out and broke into "Down from Above" I was hooked. I believe that was my favorite song in the set followed by "High as Hello" which could be a Malkmus song any day of the week and "Nobody Dies Anymore" and "Desert Bell" Jeff's acoustic set was beautiful as the crowd was respectful and silent which made "At Least That's What You Said" an everlasting memory. Spencer is a very soft touch drummer with very nice chops. he really seems to embrace the music and the rest of the band fit the bill. Darin of course is seasoned and fills the bass bill perfectly. We were home by 3 AM and it was a night really well spent in a beautiful space. I feel privileged to have been able to experience a new direction for one of the few people that can cause me to travel 400 miles in 12 hours. If Ryan would put the Cardinals back together with the right bass player that would have me travelling too!! I have listened to the set from Mountain Jam on sooutoftune a few times and these songs are infectious once breathed in a few times. I hope anyone else who went had a wonderful experience and I hope Y'all have a great day!
