kidsmoke
It's been a week today since the album's release, and more and more I'm finding myself mesmerized by the lyrics. What particular lines are popping out at you, and humming themselves in your head all day? I have many, many favorites, of which these are just a few. Where My Love: I had a dream we were cast awayThey came to save us but you wanted to stay Nobody Dies Anymore: Sitting in a combed out roomWatching the world to end and Nobody dies anymoreNo badge knock on a dark front door Wait for Love: Honey I'm worried the fire is coldOur tired souls have lost their way.Stay home and find the song fading away aloneAnd strange, out of range I'll Never Know: I remember the room with the TV onAnd you sitting asleep before you were gone and I loved to watch the ghostsOf cigarette smoke turning lithe and blueAnd I loved the time we spent aloneThat you never knew and Now I have a room with a TV onI try to stay awake before I'm gone That whole song is so beautiful. What lyrics are you most moved by, today at least? Because if you're like me, tomorrow it will be a whole new set that resonate!
worldrecordplayer
This lyric from New Moon struck me from the first: I've always been certain Nearly all my life One day I'd be your burden And you would be my wife Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Magnetized
Oh, Kidsmoke, this is my favorite thing to do. The lyrics on so many of these songs are grabbing me so hard. I love many of the same ones you've quoted, including I'll Never Know. That song is so evocative lyrically. It doesn't seem to get a lot of love on this message board, but to me it's the perfect end to the journey that the album takes you on. Among my favorites in addition to the ones you've mentioned. . . Pigeons Well it's not how they tell it, it's not how they sayYour heart's in your mind and your mind's in the way Nobody Dies Anymore I stand where I grewOh, I hated that tooWhen hell's about to blow inI saddle up new and Love every song that I knowYou ask me well how soStrange I can't defendI love how every song ends Summer Noon That phrase "a pink beating heart in the balcony" New Moon It's hard to pick out just a few lines. That song is so vivid and personal! But maybe You keep me as your thief, please let me be a little moreAnd when you fall asleep please let me be what you're dreaming for Where My Love I want to watch you growing old and dumbI want to see what you and I become
kamera
Terrific thread starter Kidsmoke Honeycombed So soon How will the weather bring Sing like the children have sung High as the stars are hung I vanish before I go And from above Every cemetery Against the bloom Rattle the pigs, visit the silence Waking up an open wound
Guest iwant2bJT'sBFF
Fun thread! Wait for Love Arm and armWaltz through the distant days the scattered paradesAs the sweet slips away Slow Love So it was that it was thereA part of us as real as the airI never needed to know what it wasSo it was that it was thereA part of us as real as the airI never needed to know what it wasNo love is the only love (I love this one too, Wilco Me)Where My Love I want to watch you growing old and dumbI want to see what you and I become High As Hello So long all the way it fallsThe wicked will dieI'm alone all over toneRivers wait
kidsmoke
Another little lyrical thing I noticed & love is that Summer Noon is followed by Honey Combed, the first verse of which concludes,"My thoughts are grim, polluted as I amWalking out one summer noon" Intentional, or just a sweet bit of serendipitous sequencing? Either way, I enjoy it.
smells like flowers
From Pigeons: "We're all dandelions..."
Lotti
From song of Summer Noon:- Afterwards, I found my face in the trash. This has familiarity as effect from the schnapps for sure and bring the smile to face with chuckle! Welfare!
kidsmoke
I hope you were able to smooth it out afterwards, Lotti. The effect from the schnapps can be powerful. Today I'm finding myself entranced by "Desert Bell" As fast as our blood can crackle with blameThe arrows of eyesDefined our embrace too soon and And buried myself so deep and so trueNo one ever saw throughThoroughly cruel and alone And I am so sorry you don't recognize me and Oh look past your anger and render me downIn a hole in the groundMixed with the earthRemember these wordsAnd let me no longer be worth your sorrow Oh hell I could quote that entire song!
