Analogman
They have a new album coming out this winter. They are now on the Bloodshot label. If you haven't seen this list of towns we'll be hitting come February, (and why do we always go north or to Berlin in February?) here they are. If you don't see your town or one close to you, lets us know and on our next run we'll do our best to be there! On all of these dates will be sharing the stage with the fabulous Jaye Jayle of Louisville and on some very lucky nights, the inimitable Morgan Geer will play a solo set as well as rock the stage with us. We hope to see you. It's been too long!11/14 Millheim, PA @ Elk Creek Cafe & Aleworks11/15 Millheim, PA @ Elk Creek Cafe & Aleworks02/10 Ann Arbor, MI @ The Ark02/11 Cleveland, OH @ Beachland Tavern02/12 Toronto, Canada @ The Drake02/13 Ithaca, NY @ The Dock02/14 Allston, MA @ Great Scott02/16 Brooklyn, NY @ The Bell House02/17 Philadelphia, PA @ Boot and Saddles02/18 Washington, DC @ DC902/20 Louisville, KY @ Zanzabar02/21 Kansas City, MO @ Riot Room02/23 Denver, CO @ Walnut Room02/25 Salt Lake City, UT @ The State Room02/27 Seattle, WA @ Tractor Tavern02/28 Portland, OR @ Mississippi Studios03/01 San Francisco, CA @ The Chapel03/02 Los Angeles, CA @ The Echo03/03 Phoenix, AZ @ Valley Bar03/04 Tucson, AZ @ The Flycatcher03/05 Albuquerque, NM @ Low Spirits03/07 Dallas, TX @ Kessler Theater03/08 Austin, TX @ The Sidewinder03/09 New Orleans, LA @ Gasa Gasa03/10 Chattanooga, TN @ The Barking Leg03/11 Asheville, NC @ Grey Eagle03/12 Decatur, GA @ Eddie’s Attic03/13 Nashville, TN @ The Basement03/14 St. Louis, MO @ Off Broadway03/16 Minneapolis, MN @ Cedar Cultural Center03/18 Chicago, IL @ The Hideout If you have never listened to Freakwater - listen to It Feels Like The Third Time first. Analogman
I am surprised I could not find the old Freakwater thread. It must have disappeared.
LouieB
After all these years they have finally landed on Bloodshot. My first interaction with Bloodshot was trying to find their records 20 years ago when they had a song on the first Bloodshot compilation. Now they are recording for them. Amazing. tinnitus photography
Janet is still a looker.
Chez
How does Freakwater's sound compare to Eleventh Dream Day's?
Lammycat
I got turned on to them here, actually, (possibly through MChris) and have only listened to the album Endtime, which is really good (or good for nothing, heh). Great tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKyZB_TJGyo
LouieB
Freakwater is NOTHING like Eleventh Dream Day. It is a solid alt-country affair, not a rock band by any stretch. If you like offbeat (like the Handsome Family), waltz time, low key, country inflected songs, they are for you. Janet does not play drums with Freakwater. Analogman
The last few albums are not like the early stuff. Also - Max Johnston played with them for a while (Springtime).
Chez
Thanks, LouieB. I LOVE the Handsome Family (and Eleventh Dream Day, for that matter). I'll have to check out some Freakwater.
LouieB
Just got my ticket to the Hideout show in 6 months.... Freakwater is a quirky band, not to everyone's taste. LouieB
PopTodd
Just got my ticket to the Hideout show in 6 months.... Freakwater is a quirky band, not to everyone's taste. LouieBI only have one of their albums (Feels Like the Third Time) and I dig it bunches. Looks like I'll have to put some into my Spotify queue today and check out other albums. Chez
I picked up a used copy of End Time this morning for one whole dollar. I'm looking forward to listening to it tonight.
