twoshedsjackson
I was reading an old article about Wilco (circa '04) today. It focused mostly on Jeff and his struggles at the time, but it gave brief bios of each of the band members. It mentioned that Mikael Jorgensen had, in the early/mid 90's, been a member of a band called Lizard Music. This sent me looking through my piles of 45s to find what I knew was there. A copy of their single. Back in the early 90's I was a musician living in Los Angeles. For the last year I lived there I also worked at a small record label called World Domination, headed by Dave Allen (Gang of Four). We shared a large office suite with Gold Mountain Management, who at the time managed Nirvana, the Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. and a bunch of other cool bands. Anyway, one of the bands on our tiny label was Lizard Music. So I've had this record for 23 years and never realized the Wilco connection. Crazy.
bböp
Oh, there are some funny promo pictures of Mike when he was in Lizard Music! I went to their one-off reunion show at a random bar in New Jersey like 10 years ago. Pretty sure Erik Paparazzi, who was in the original incarnation of Mike's old band Pronto was also in Lizard Music. Anyway, there are a couple recordings out there! TCP
Well, it's a better reptile band name than King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
