Worse than learning through a craigslist link would be learning through a post titled "Wilco breking Up?"
Honestly, when that day comes, where else will most of us possibly find out but here? Better here than for Jeff to 'tweet' it.

I could put Citrus on repeat, leave it there for 2 or 3 days, and be totally happy.

Has anyone else noticed the ad for the Rhapsody iPhone app that has the drops of water that show album covers inside the drops. The very first one is YHF, which quickly recedes to the back and is replaced by a deluge of other albums, none of which are nearly as clearly visible.

In '04 at one of their LA shows I actually got to be in the front row. I'm NEVER in the front row. For anything. So damn it, I was going to make the most of it and take my camera and get some pics. It's just a little digital point-n-shoot snapshoty type camera, so I knew that with no flash 99% of them would be totally blurry crap. I didn't block anyone's view and got, what I thought, were some pretty good shots. I like the artsy blur. At one point during Hummingbird Jeff walked directly over to me and shook my hand. I was the only person he did that with all night (except Kidsmoke's daughter got to sing with him, but that's different.) It wasn't until later that it dawned on me WHEN in Hummingbird he shook my hand... during the line, "his goal in life was to be an echo."
Oops. Oh well. I'm still glad I took the pics. I have good mementos and, much like keeping score at a baseball game, taking pictures keeps me more focused on my surroundings. But if I do get back to the front row, I'll probably just look at someone else's pictures on-line the next day.

Heard 'Just a Kid' in the game/ride area of the Santa Monica Pier today with the kids.

This thread seems as a good as any to ask something i've been wondering for awhile. I've always wondered about a few name pronunciations (I feel very lame not knowing this btw). Is Glenn's last name pronounced "Koch" or "Kochee" or some other variation? And is Mikael's name pronounced "Mick-ale" or "Michael"? I really ought to know this but I figured I would just get it straightened out for certain.
Thanks
I'm glad you're brave enough to ask! I've thought about posting this same question many times and chickened-out. (Not sure why.)

Wow. Didn't expect quite this response. At least I like the Beatles.
As for Hotel Arizona, the problem for me is that it's way too literal and straightforward. The really great Wilco songs seem to be more metaphorical (Hell is Chrome), paint a great mental picture (Sky Blue Sky), or leave you guessing and/or let you fill in the gaps with your imagination (Poor Places, Misunderstood).
There is also, for me at least, a fine line between atmospheric and dull. Wishful Thinking and Radio Cure are both on the wrong side of that line for me.
mr. kinsley! are your kids driving yet?
Hey! What's up! No, they aren't driving. But we do let them ride the mile and a half to pre-school on their Big Wheels by themselves.*
*Yes, I'm kidding. No, don't call Child Protective Services.

How is Wishful Thinking bad? That's one of the best songs on Ghost.
I love the lyrics, but it just bores me to tears.

Dare I say, foie gras faux pas?

AM: Passenger Side / It's Just That Simple
BT: Misunderstood / Hotel Arizona*
ST: I'm Always in Love / We're Just Friends*
YHF: Poor Places# / Radio Cure
AGIB: Theologians / Wishful Thinking*
SBS: You Are My Face / Shake It Off*
W(ta): Bull Black Nova / Sonny Feeling
*Some of my least favorite songs of all-time, by anyone. Nails on a chalkboard.

A lot of this discussion seems to hinge on the concept of "favorite" vs. "best." The Beatles are the best band of all time, but Wilco is my favorite. On my beloved Laker's teams of the 80's Magic and Kareem were clearly the best players, but scrappy Kurt Rambis always held a special place in my heart.
In answer to the original question, no, there's nothing wrong with you. As long as you can acknowledge quality despite not actively participating in it, you're ok. A lot of rap music is like that for me. I can see where people could get into certain acts even though they aren't for me.

...and then he will be playing other stuff, too, right?

Pat has to be the most underrated musician on the planet.
Also, Nels almost seemed uncomfortable with the "competition." Pat is the far more natural showman.

While in line for a show in '04, I asked someone whom I knew had travelled to see multiple shows on that tour how many Wilco concerts she'd been to. She looked at me rather puzzled and asked, "You mean... on this tour, or...?"
In other words, I think she'd seen more Wilco shows that Jeff!
As for me, I'm at a measly 6.

i think the internet is more like the movie 'deliverance'
You suuuure got a perrty keyboard.

Actually, I rather like it. If you like it, go with it.
But not the logo. That's a trainwreck in the making.

Ooooo! Oooo! I got it!
Prince's Purple Rain
No. Seriously. How stinking rad* would that be.
*Rad used without irony, but instead as a sincere 80's terminology tribute.

This one is easy...
Television - Marquee Moon
I do believe you're correct. The even more correct answer is that, since Jeff is such the music junkie, it would be some album so obscure that even the band that originally recorded it didn't know about it.

Well played Mr. Bag! Good thing you didn't tell us that you could whip such up a tasty meal, because we'd have crashed the party! Just be sure to name your first born Via Chicago.
-
Yeah, I fear this didn't go well. Maybe something along the lines of, "You got all the ideas for tonight from a rock-band's fan site?!?!"
Either that or she's still there.

I've been a fan of Wilco for 9 yrs but just discovered this site. Anyway, I don't want my husband to think I'm obsessed so I only told him about one of the two dreams I had about Wilco this past week & my son teases me about the crush he thinks I have on Tweedy.
Funny, my wife thinks I have a crush on Jeff, too!
Whenever she hears a song she doesn't like (especially with any sort of feedback or noise) she asks, "Is this Wilco?"
I think she's starting to lose patience with me over this, because both the kids and HER MOM are now listening to W(TA). She's now alone on her little non-Wilco island and not digging it.

I for one am totally cracking up at the fact that we are complaining about where songs ranked on the list that WE voted on. It really does show what the best thing about Top 20 lists is: the arguing afterwards!
