  1. >i forget who played lap steel for dylan back then but it sounds very similar.

You may be referring to Bucky Baxter or Larry Campbell.

larry campbell, thats who,...i saw dylan a lot back then, i should know this.,...dylan mid 90's shows were so good.

  2. I love the way Jay Bennett played the pedal steel licks at this show:

I really wish Wilco still had more of that steel sound in stuff, like Bob Egan's pedal steel on Far, Far Away:

I know Nels plays that lap steel sometimes, but I find his style to be more that rock / blues style, not the old country style volume-swell-a-riffic steel.

i love that version of the song,...i need to get that whole show on dvd one of these days,..i have been meaning to ask jhamm.

i agree with the lap steel sound, the way nels plays it reminds me a lot of the dylan shows i went to a few years back, i forget who played lap steel for dylan back then but it sounds very similar.

  3. I think you are going to get your wish. I have heard it several times by John and Jeff that they are going to go crazy with this album, with the layers, effects, the trickery, and with their current line up, it will be so great that the universe will explode.

oh boy, i can't wait! :hyper

  4. Anyone still got a touch of that "kick ass show-hangover"? My ears stopped ringing around noon, but I still got that fuzzy, not quite with it kind of feeling. I love that feeling... :thumbup

i'm still euphoric from it,..they are just the greatest, i love this band. the venue and the vibe of it all made it all the better. having my son with me to experience it (his 3rd wilco show) made it even more special. and meeting jeff for the 2nd time was the icing :wub. he seemed happy and he looked great,... he was so cute in his hat! he even smiled a tiny bit in the picture i had taken with him, thanks to the nice man who took it. :yes

  5. it's that place somebody mentioned on the previous page. I checked out their website, and it looks like it could be very good, though maybe a little pricey. I may change my mind and go for pub grub, depending on what I'm in the mood for by the time I get down there.

It's hard to believe the show is finally tomorrow!

maggie, where is your seat? i'm getting excited!

  6. I managed to get a ticket for Wilmington, so I'll see you next weekend :wave

As recently as last week I was thinking about tacking on Cary, but there's no way in hell I'm making another drive that long this summer. I did 13 hours to St. Louis and 14 a few weeks ago to see the Singers a few times. My car and I are barely on speaking terms as it is.

wow, glad you managed to get a ticket!, its gonna be great. i'm bringing my son and his friend again and they are excited too.
