  1. The last week truly has been one of THE funnest of my life. 3 cities, 6 concerts (including Nels and Glenn last night). Too many songs I had never seen done before live... Life is good. Huge thank you to the band and crew for making the effort to come all this way.

    Here's what I liked:

    - Finally figuring out who makes what sound on stage. After listening to many live shows, I never knew who did what part. Each night I would stand in front of a different person and realise what they added.

    - Hearing I Got You 3 times.

    - A member of the road crew who gave me a set list at the last show and said "Thanks for coming to every concert". :)

    - Meeting new friends in the line outside. I'm going to be your new friend thats impossible to shake not matter how hard you try. And now I have an American friend for the Solid Sound Festival! YAY!

    - When Jeff, John and Pat all step back from the mic at the exact same time. So synchranised.

    - Mikaels random use of a toothbrush on stage. I don't have to understand to like it.

    - At least thats what you said. I remember when I first heard it at the 7 Worlds Collide show and it still floors me everytime.

    - Nels' crazy-leg-sitting-down-dance. You know what I mean.

    - Glenn. I could watch him drum all night. I feel like he should be wearing safety glasses.

    - Pat throwing the marraccas in the air and catching them without even really looking. My hand eye co-ordination is somewhat lacking so I'm super impressed by this.

    - Kicking Television. Never thought I would hear that one live.

    - John doing Its Just That Simple.

    - Jeffs abililty to make anything funny. Even a bogan woman being a dick. Though I guess thats kind of like shooting fish in a barrell.

    - The guy who requested Just a kid who was nice enough to move up so my friends and I could stand together.

    - The fact the band not only didn't issue a restraining order, but were incredibly nice to me.

    What I didn't like:

  2. It's not hard to learn - and it is better than messing with all of those download links.

(Note: Check to see where you have your downloads set to download. You will also need Winzip, and/or WinRAR installed on your computer.)

i don't even know where to go to check where they are set to go,(don't laugh)..i recently downloaded the friday 4/2 wellmont show and the boston show that was linked...it had that zipper folder and when it finished i clicked on it and it went to my itunes, so i guess itunes is where i have it set?...but i had to quick make a cd of the shows and then reinstall it to my itunes because if i didn't that exclamation point would suddenly appeared next to the songs if i tried to play it after i would log out of itunes and then go back in and it said it couldnt be found!!!! its all too much for me, i can't take it anymore!

  3. Yeah we had one guy there during Liam who seemed to be enjoying the show. In fact I saw in watching the Wilco show later on, seemed to have got himself off duty for the main event!

Here is the MP3 of last nights show for anyone who wants a momento, I'll be posting the Flac on Dime later for anyone who wants lossless.

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HZRZBJJR

i know it downloaded but when i go to open it it says windows can't find it, only zip files seem to work,..i don't know what im doing apparently, makes me so mad, i would be all over owl and bear and dime and whatever others there are if i only knew how!!!

  4. I love how I can get so into AM/BT.

For me, AGIB is SUCH a dense record that I can't listen to it 100% of the time like I can SBS or ST or AM. BT is the same way, though I can always jam Monday or Outtasite or Say You Miss Me.

SPEAKING OF SAY YOU MISS ME, the "woo-hoo-oo!" backing vocals.

i was just gonna post that same thing about 'say you miss me',..love that part. love the song, also its my ringtone :lol

  5. I have witnessed one of the finest shows I have ever seen. It has lead me to taking the day off from work today. I can't hear a thing and can't talk but I'm not calling it a sick day. I'm calling it a Wilco day. I need this day to think about what it was that I saw taking place before me last night.

I probably shouldn't be writing this now as these thoughts are only partly-formed but I'll throw a few of them out there.

The Factory is only a small venue in Sydney's inner-west. I think it'd hold around 400 people (?) so being a sold out gig, there was electricty & anticipation in the air. Overheard many discussions beginning with, "Hey, do you think they'll play...?"

    OK, some thoughts:

    * First up, my memory isn't good for order but that setlist looks spot on. And, yes, I'm pretty sure Outtasite was in there after I Got You.

    * Got a great spot down the front on the barrier, directly in front of John.

    * Wonderful to hear Ashes of American Flags as an opener. Beautiful way to start the night.

    * I haven't been listening to Wilco of late. So when I heard the intros to songs I had "forgotten" - Company in My Back, War On War - well, it felt like coming home.

    * I will never tire of hearing ALTWYS live. Never.

    * Sunken Treasure went to some far out beautiful sonic places.

    * It was one of the greatest privileges of my concert-going life to stand in front of John Stirratt and watch/listen to him sing the harmony to Less Than You Think.

    * Pat gave a nice little Feisty call & response on You and I. In fact, the band were really letting loose/fooling around last night. A fair degree of Nels falling down on stage, Jeff and Pat doing those little Bonnie Prince Billy one legged kicks in the air during solos. Lottsa fun.

    * Opening chords to Box Full Of Letters rang out and I melted. I don't really analyse set-lists from previous shows so I don't know how often this is played but it is a fine, beautifully crafted song. And it rocks out, too.

    * Shot in the Arm - little funny looks & smiles between Jeff and Pat as Pat played some variation on the piano riff during the outro. A mistake? It probably was but sounded great. Pat looked sheepish but wore a huge grin.

    * Whole crowd sing-a-long to Jesus etc. sounded nice. Must be a buzz to have a room full of people singing your song back to you.

    * Business end of the set was relentlessly powerful. They just kept it coming. Guitar duelling on Hoodoo Voodoo allowed for some great hamming it up from Pat & Nels. Nels may be more technically proficient but Pat's playing is just so sooulful and damned elegant.

    * The encore may have been the highlight for me. When I heard guitar riff for Thank You Friends...well, I still don't know what to type here. Alex Chilton was channeled in some way. Would've loved to have heard It's Just That Simple but was rewarded with hearing John sing this song (well, sharing the singing with Pat & Jeff). Big Star probably not so well known in Australia but I was in heaven. So for that to be followed up with In the Street (John on lead vox again), my night was made.

That's all I've got. I'm sure more will come in the next few days or so but I've been floored by this wonderful band yet again.

    nice post

  6. Isn't everyday a bad hair day for Jeff? At least for the past year or so. Looks like he slipped with the electric razor. It kind of reminds me diring reshman in high school when I cut my own bangs. A horrible failure in cost effective, DIY hair styling.

i love jeffs crazy messy hair,..its part of his charm, kinda like 'i don't give a shit' attitude and i love that.

when it comes to looks and music jeff can do no wrong in my book. :D

  7. Obvious, but...what you once were isn't what you want to be anymore...

Obvious, but...i have no idea how this happened...

Adding to the Far Far Away fever...kiss and ride on the CTA...

The break in ALTWYS...and Jeff's guitar solo behind it

When Jeff's voice breaks immediately after the "Either Way" solo

On and On and On....this world of words and meanings makes you feel

    outside....

The Ummm? in I'm a Wheel...and, yeah, that screech

lets just say all of 'far far away' is one big nuance of love :wub

  8. the way jeff sings 'nova' in BBN

    johns bass in BBN

ken drums in 'far far away'

anytime jeff sings falsetto and the face he makes

jeff smiles inbetween singing lines,...makes me smile too, i love his smile

jeff solo singing blondies 'dreaming' i know he did it more than once..i especially love the one where he sounds stoned,..sings it real slow, i think its from one of the lounge ax shows, i wish i could post a link to it.

    all of 'reincarnation'

  9. ~ when the bass first hits in Handshake Drugs

~love hearing Jeff sing ... "Around our yard I'll nail a fence..."

~on this past tour - Glenn's intro on Laminated Cat along with Mike on synth

~Pat on the shakers and John's bass groove in the middle of Spiders

~opening few lines of At Least That Is What You Said

~Pat using the xylophone during acoustic set at the end of Spiders

    ~whistle in Monday

    ~One Wing intro

love the glenn intro to lammie cat!,..and agree with all of the rest too

  10. look at my signature,..i love that song, the beginning of the song when jeff starts to sing (so sweet),..and the part that really gets me is after he says "but you know how i've been untrue", then after the piano when he starts singing 'in the beginning we closed our eyes...etc etc,..the music, his voice. i tear up eveytime! summerteeth is a beautiful album.

    i love wilco.

  11. i have to say for me out of the 2 shows i went to, 4/3 saturday montclair and the 4/10 philly show, both were great but i thought the philly show was better,..the crowd was singing to every song and the energy was over the top,..philly showed their love that night. yay philly.
