  1. i love how after just a couple hours people have already made their final judgments about an album theyve heard at most a couple times. gotta love the internet.....

  2. agreed...Uno's does kind of blow definitely OVERRATED

yea, i guess blow is kind of strong. but still, their crust tastes like it came out of a pillsbury can. with all the great joints in chicago, both thick and thin, theres no reason to waste your time or money there.

  3. we had the same problem when we got the Sunday Chicago Trib, and we only lived in a building with 14 units......the only thing we could do to assure we got it was to wake at the crack of dawn and go downstairs and get it. We also tried to think of ways to catch the paper thief, but never had any success.

I always looked forward to the Sunday paper and a morning on the sofa reading through it. I know what a bummer it is to have it disappear - good luck!

yup, same thing would happen to me at school. im in a townhouse that looks out into our parking lot, and every time the delivery guy would leave the paper right in the middle of the lot, or even worse at the entrance of the lot. how hard would it have been to just leave it at my doorstep? not to mention the times it wasnt stolen, i would have to run outside in middle of winter to get it.

  4. Anyone see the prices on eBay?

    $200 + for a pair of anything half-way decent.

There are tickets going for $400/pair for Pit.

Now I wont lie. I used a broker once to get tickets for 2nd row back in 2003 at the Auditorium (i know, i know. but i really had my heart set on going and i missed out on tix the regular way). However, I paid $100 for the pair (and prices were only around $30 to begin with, so it wasnt even that big of a deal). But it just goes to show you how much more popular Wilcos become in that time.

  6. this is what someone posted over on the flaming lips board that frequent at a lot more:

"so i went to see wilco monday night in springfield, mo. during the first encore, some drunken frat boy jumps on stage and starts doing the "look at me, i'm on stage" dance. jeff tweedy kinda gave him a "not cool" look but kept singing. then the guy put his hand on jeff's head like he was going to whisper something to him, and to my suprise, nice guy, folk singer, jeff tweedy, punched this guy right in the fucking face! finaly security came out and got the guy. the cool thing was jeff didn't pull and axl rose (scream at the audience and leave). he calmly explained he didn't want to do that but, it's scary when some nut jumps on stage. then he picked up where he left off and finished the song. very cool.

i personaly wish he had continued beating the guy on stage until someone begged him to stop. after the dimebag darrel incident, anyone who approches a band on stage should know better."

    :blink

  7. 9/20 was my first "real" concert. Plus I had second row center seats in the pit. No concert has ever matched that night for me since. It was simply magical. I would relive that night forever if I could.

And seriously, what other band out there does 30 song set lists?!

  8. Thanks for that. The Aud. theatre holds about 4,000 people. If you're on the floor or first balcony its perfect otherwise don't bother.

Besides that it's about one hundred years old and a Adler/Sullivan gem. Buildings like this have a soul that should be respected IMO.

I saw them 2nd row at the Auditorium on 9/20/03. The sound was crystal :P

  9. I love anything from the "Golden Age" of hip hop. Early-Mid 90's:

    Gang Starr

    Pete Rock/CL Smooth

Public Enemy (while Flava Flav can get on my nerves, Chuck D is unparalled)

    De La Soul

    Souls of Mischief

    Group Home

    The Disposable Heros of Hypocrisy

    Tribe Called Quest

some new stuff is pretty good too:

    Edan

    Mavillain

    Common

    The Others

basically, if its jazzy im an instant sucker for it. also turntalbism (dj shadow, dj krush, rjd2, etc etc) im a huge fan of.

one of my all time fav songs

Pete Rock and CL Smooth- They Reminisce Over You (the horn loop is absolutely haunting)

  10. I saw the web cast from the comfort of my family room.

    Isn't technology wonderful?

I think that Jeff's remarks about 1/3 of the band being thankful to be back in Chicago were meaningful.

Does anyone know what that was about?

is only 1/3 of the band actually from chicago? that could be what he was going at.

  11. last night I told a stranger all about you

    they smiled patienty with disbelief

I' always knew you would succeed

    no matter what you tried

and I know you did it all

    in spite of me

still I'm proud to have known you

for the short time that I did

proud to have been a step up on your way

proud to be a part of your illustrious career

and I know you did it all

    in spite of me

    in spite of me

    late last night

I saw you in my living room

you seemed so close but yet so cool

for a long time I thought that you'd be coming back to me

those kind of thoughts can be so cruel

    so cruel

and I know you did it all

    in spite of me

    in spite of me
