  1. Well, despite the Knoxville 'drama', the shows seem to have kicked serious ass. The last two nights have seen two shows where no song was repeated. 7/29/06 The Tabernacle, Atlanta Set 1: To Be Young Beautiful Sorta Magnolia Mountain My Winding Wheel Please Do Not Let Me Go Dear Chicago A Kiss Before I Go Rescue Blues Meadowlake Street -> Bird Song (The Grateful Dead) The End When The Stars Go Blue Set 2: Sylvia Plath (solo piano) Oh My Sweet Carolina Let It Ride Shakedown on 9th Street -> Franklin's Tower (The Grateful Dead) -> I See Monsters Encore: What Sin -> Stella Bl
  2. I rate 'Cold Roses' above 'Heartbreaker'. In fact, I rate JCN on the same line as 'Heartbreaker'. There's some classic songs there, but there's just a few which make me skip to the next track, and I don't normally keep listening after 'Shakedown on 9th St'. 'Cold Roses' is one that I listen all the way through most of the time. There aren't songs that I skip every time, and altough I may skip them every now and then, I don't hate them.
  3. I like that there wouldn't have been The Beatles first album or rock and roll pretty much without 'Elvis Presley' (their words, not mine), yet there's 8 albums that apparently changed music more, including 'Sgt Pepper'. Nice to think that the Beatles would've made 'Sgt Pepper' without Elvis Presley or their own first album. Maybe they just would've lucked onto it.
  4. From the same show as the 'Kitty's Back' from above adn keeping with the Xmas theme - the first one of these is pretty tops Marvin Gaye's 'Star Spangled Banner' from the 1983 (?) NBA All-Star Game is also a highlight Other contenders (which I can't find videos for); Neil Young performing 'Rockin' in the Free World' on Saturday Night Live, 1989 Elvis Costello performing 'Veronica', also from SNL in 1989
  5. Ryan claims he's now clean - except for the cigarettes.
  6. The MIU album is pretty dodgy - but the LA album is underrated I think - along with 'Good Timin'' there's also 'Baby Blue', which is probably the last great Dennis Wilson song. The less said about "Keepin' the Summer Alive" though, the better...
  7. I actually prefer the stereo version - if only for 'God Only Knows'. I know it's all the same, but hearing the intro to that song in stereo is as good as it gets. As for the other Beach Boys hating the record, Mike Love will never admit that his band's most popular album isn't his favourite, but it's obvious he didn't and still doesn't dig it as much fans do. But what did he expect? Brian Wilson had quit touring to stay in the studio - and with a seemingly endless pit of money and studio time at his disposal with the best session players LA had to offer, enough pot to make Cheech and Chong j
  8. You feel sad 'cause I got mad And I'm sorry, I'm sorry Things I said made things seem bad But don't worry 'Cause it's gonna be all right now, be okay You know I just don't think before I speak I've been looking for to find Something to believe in my mind And I thought it was you All this time since you've been mine I've been angry, so angry Made it known I could make it alone But I'm changing And I'm gonna be all right now, be okay You know I just woke up and I see the way Don't give up on me so fast I see it's me that's wrong at last Give me another chance It's so ha
