  1. geez man, that's pretty bad. but at least you and your critters are ok!
  2. "you're a vegetable, you're a vegetable, and I hate you, you're a vegetable." timeless lyrics
  3. my husband only started getting along with my family once we got married. he still doesn't really get along with my dad since some threats were hurled his way...but it works out ok. not everyone is going to get along with everyone. maybe she'll come around eventually and surprise you!
  4. me too! she was a class act all the way!
  5. this is the only Wilco album that I do not own.
  6. if you have an extra $10 to spare, please text REDCROSS to 90999 to send to Nashville relief. they still don't know what the full death toll is or the full extent of damage. it's going to take months for them to recover. WHY President Obama hasn't designated the area a disaster is completely beyond me!!! thanks in advance!
  7. they found 2 elderly people that neighbors have been looking for in Belle Meade. they tried to drive away and didn't make it. it's really terrible. being 1,000 miles away doesn't make me feel very good because if I was there I would be doing what I could to help. it's just sick making.
  8. thanks Todd! I'm surprised how little coverage this has received in the news. at least 6 people are confirmed dead.
  9. The city of Nashville and the surrounding area is under water due to relentless rain for 48 hours over the weekend. The Cumberland River is above flood level and water continues to rise. WSMV news Please send prayers and vibes to my hometown, Music City, and I'm sure the Red Cross could use donations to assist in the relief effort. Thank you!
  10. I didn't say anyone said "who gives a fuck." but saying this is a "non-thread issue" kind of indicates that this event isn't worth mentioning. it's very upsetting
  11. no one has said it verbatim, but it has been said, "people die" and "what were people supposed to do, CPR?" and I just sense a general "who really gives a fuck? it happens." those kinds of attitudes piss me off and justify the point of this thread - that there is a lack of responsibility among people who don't want to "get involved" or whatever. I can't even speak about it anymore. ugh! frustrating! then I don't get the point. just because he may have died instantly doesn't make people's apathy excusable. that probably isn't your point either, but I just don't get the fact that people c
  12. look; I never said that this was some downfall of mankind, but this is an outrageous event and downplaying it is bullshit in my opinion. I probably have passed someone that was bleeding and didn't know it. I'm not any kind of saint. this did not have to nor did it need to happen and it's tragic. if you can't see the tragedy in this, then I don't even know what to say. yeah, so then it's no big deal then. it's all good. carry on. whatever.
  13. they didn't wait to make sure he was ok and that someone came to pick him up. why did it take 3 hours for him to be "rescued." I don't understand why there isn't more outrage about this. I've passed drunks on the street and they were obviously alive, breathing, some puke on the sidewalk AND I've called 911 before to help people. I've never passed anyone that was bleeding and didn't do anything. ugh! it's just mortifying to me.
  14. hello! there is video that SHOWS PEOPLE WALKING BUY AND DOING NOTHING FOR HOURS!!!!! it's on tape! it's a very big deal in my opinion. it's great that someone called 911, but they didn't call soon enough because he laid there for hours and DIED! he could have been saved.
  15. stopping and calling the police, making sure the police get there, talking to the guy to keep him awake so he doesn't pass out... there are many things people can do. what if it happened to you? wouldn't you want someone to stop and help you? also, he was trying to help someone else. how sad that someone couldn't do the same for him. I don't think it's just happening in NYC - but NYC is a very concentrated area and people become numb to certain things and go along their busy way, sometimes knocking people over to get there; yes I have seen old women practically knocked over because some jerk
  16. people who fart in elevators or on train cars.
  17. I heard this story a few days ago, when it happened, and it makes me sick. maybe it's just a localized attitude in the NYC area, but I hear about crap like this happening all the time. it's horrible to think that someone would lay dying in the streets and no one would do anything about it. despicable and disgusting.
  18. actually, once in a while, I tend to turn into one of these assholes.
  19. I hate to say this but...New York is full of assholes...not everyone, but there are lots of them running rampant.
  20. that whistling noise that some people make when they breathe through their nose. terrible.
  21. I loved Elephant Man when it came out (I was like ten years old). I also love Straight Story, but Blue Velvet is the masterpiece!
