  1. Holy crap that was some episode. RIP Sil and Bobby.

As several have speculated, turning informant to save his family seems to be the likely course for Tony now, which is why we should probably expect a different ending.

Was Melfi really so naive all these years that she didn't understand that Tony was lying to her at nearly every turn? That was a great scene at the dinner party, and another in her office with Tony afterward when they broke up.

So much for A.J. stepping up to lead the family. He should be back in the institution.

  2. Rodriguez claims it happens to him 3 or 4 times a week -- I find that hard to believe -- but my gut reaction is the same as the Blue Jays, "bush league." Just like when he tried to swat the ball on that run to first a few years ago. Jeez, he's like the most talented physical athlete in the game, why does he have to pull crappy little stunts like that? His justification is that they're desperate for a win and didn't want to get swept. So that makes it OK? Or it's OK because everyone else does it to him? If my daughter pulled that crap in a little league softball game I'd bench her.

  3. But anyway ... A-Rod, for the first time in a while, vaguely resembles a normal, breathing human being this morning.

I guess Michael Vick has been taking some of the heat off him lately.

  4. Don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but since the topic of this thread was changed to "Go Nationals", the Nats have won 10 of their last 14 games and pushed Cincinnati down into last place. I think they've also led the league in scoring over the past 5 or 6 games.

The power of Via Chicago knows no limits.

  5. Wear a hat, and bring sunscreen and bottled water. Bring earplugs -- the foam kind that you roll between your fingers and insert deep into the ear canal are effective. Skip the over-ear hearing protectors unless you like sweating from your ears. Bring an AM/FM walkman that can play loud enough to be heard through your earplugs so you can follow the race. From any vantage point at Indy you can see at best 1/8 of the track, so it's good to follow along on the radio. Look for one of the shuttle bus services that takes you to the racetrack, or plan on parking very far away and walking. Expect unbelievable levels of traffic on local interstates and surface streets. Get drunk and have a great time. Stay hydrated.
