Robbie Robertson with Galactic
I just *shuddered* out of my chair.
Then vomited on myself.

"We live in the kind of district where everybody works very hard to give the appearance that everything is perfect," she said.
Nice try, you dumb bitch. "Oh, we work so hard to make things appear idyllic that we don't notice our kids screwing in the living room."

I can't wait. It looks like they've got 12 songs this time, instead of their usual 10. What gives? Regardless, I'm super excited for this one. I also cannot wait to see them live again.

Looks like the hipsters turned out in full force tonight in LA. I was in line and it sold out like 10 people before me.
I LOVE their record. Got it Tuesday and I'm hooked.
Edit: I just checked Spaceland's web page and there's no online tix left. Looks like I'll be in line early tomorrow.

I implore everyone to try to uncover some Duke Ellington piano recordings, particularly these:
They are a great look at a true master, not only a master composer and arranger, but a master pianist. Check them out.
-
I have to add that I was absolutely blessed to see Kenny Burrell perform in Bel Air last Tuesday. It was surely a treat to see a living legend in the flesh.

In retrospect of this thread I think dislike and love of SBS falls into two camps:
You forgot the 3rd camp, which I belong to:
People that like good rock and roll.

Kids are gonna ride bikes and rollerblade and skateboard and participate in all sorts of semi-hazardous activities, with or without their parents' permission. It is not anyone's responsibility to provide safety equipment to kids gratis or without the knowledge and consent of the parents.
That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. Not that I don't get your point, but its ridiculous.
If some teenager falls off their skateboard and bashes their head, they suffer.
If some teenager has a child out of wedlock with absolutely no idea how to raise the child, the world suffers.
So there is a difference.
-
I was aware of the distinction. I still see it as ass-backwards thinking.
Kids are gonna screw, with or without their parent's permission. They should have some access to protection.

The point isn't that they didn't have acess to birth control, the point is that they want to get pregnant.
I was making a statement about the hospital's refusal to supply teens with contraceptives, and how most of America needs to get past that kind of Puritan thinking.

What high school girl would sleep with a homeless man?!
I know. What the f? I'm 24, and I do have a home. I'd gladly impregnate some high school girls.
-
The superintendent said they have been reluctant to identify the fathers, many of whom are older. But one of them "is a 24-year-old homeless guy," the principal was quoted as telling Time.
A 24-year old homeless guy. I hope that's true. Because if it is, its freaking hilarious.
the local hospital's refusal to support a proposal to distribute contraceptives to youngsters at the school without parental consentYay Catholicism!

Don't Ever Go See Gallagher
Thanks for the heads up, because I was actually really interested in seeing him.

hey! welcome to los angeles markosis! that you found the entrance to the echoplex is quite a mean feat for someone new to town
Thanks. Yeah, it wasn't easy. My uncle (who is from LA, mind you) and I drove all over Glendale Blvd looking for Sunset, and we were baffled that Sunset didn't intersect Glendale. Then we found out it crossed over Glendale Blvd.
wish i'd known you would be there, would have bought you a welcome-wagon beer!Well, I'm definitely going to see Sera Cahoone on the 27th and/or Fleet Foxes on the 28th, so I'll take my welcome beer then

Yeah, I caught em at the Echoplex last night and they totally killed it. Great show. I wanted more solo Brandon, though. "Broken Afternoon" was awesome.

They didn't play or acknowledge my request for Philly last February. They must die.

6/26 - Quincy, Illinois
I played in Quincy, Illinois. The thing is: Why the hell would anyone want to play there?

Just arrived in the San Fernando Valley. The average price is about $4.60 a gallon for regular. I don't know why I decided to move here. I may move to Portland and ditch the car if I can't hack it here. Portland is very bike and public transit friendly. LA, not so much.

Thanks. I ended up sitting in line about 6:30 and got in no problem.
What a show! Them boys can play. Its really interesting to see this ethereal, surreal music being performed in front of you. On cd it sounds like something from another dimension.
