"Star" by The Roots (some nice sampling of Sly & The Family Stone)

I always felt Glenn was like Levon Helm. ie, they both give every song exactly what the song calls for.

Oh, Jesus Ass-Fucking Christ on a Skateboard, is this bullshit still carrying on? I can't leave you kids for two minutes, swear to cod.
How dare you take a fish's name in vain! Blasphemy!

Niel Young is Canadian. He doesn't need money. Canadians barter with lumber, beer and donuts.
-
I would recommend catching Jonah Smith. Great songs, great band, great energy.

As for dixiecupdrinker, your jokes indicate you have just hit puberty.
I totally agree. How absolutely childish.
By the way, you forgot one
overall I found it to be very stimulating -
It'll be a hell of a long time before anyone tops Willow. That's all I have to say on the subject.

The dueling guitars on Impossible Germany remind me of the Allman Brothers
I'm leaning more towards Thin Lizzy on that one.
-
a good friend of mine just lent me Jack Kerouack's "The Dharma Bums". Its freaking great.

no cause I was there with my girlfriend, who tipped me off that something wasn't right about the place

Is that place a whorehouse or what? I stayed in that place back in February when I moved my brother out to Chi-town because it was a cheap place to stay. It had all the makings of a whorehouse.

I love the whole thing, 'cept for "Shake It Off." I can't get into it after the whole beauty and groove of the record up to that point. Its growing on me.

I also have to add Nels' solo in "Either Way" as a great moment. Its funny that Pitchfork made fun of that solo, and it is the first moment on the record that made me smile from ear to ear.
-
i have to add "Hate It Here" to my list of favorite moments on the record. mowing the lawn and doing laundry. fucking great. the chords are so god damn good too. I love these guys.

Since I heard "Sky Blue Sky" on Prairie Home Companion, it has been my absolute favorite song on the record, hands down.
Other moments
"my cousin's sister's husband's brother" in "You Are My Face"
the Thin Lizzy-esque guitar harmonies near the end of "Impossible Germany."
then where they all lock together and drive home that melody. Transcendent.

I really didn't feel like reading 6 pages of text, so I'm gonna say this: I feel for his family during their time of mourning. The world is a better place without this man.

in the NHL, isn't it still the case that almost everyone makes the playoffs?
Yes, everyone except the Flyers.
hoping some rule changes brings back the old NHL, where you could hit a guy and not get a penalty. You and me both. This basketball-on-skates crap is getting mighty old.

If anyone cares, Dr. Dog ruled the world for about 1 and 1/2 hours. Get the new record on 2/27. You will not be dissappointed.
