  1. “It’s the kind of beer you want to drink when the leaves turn golden and orange.” Check out this week’s Small Pour. http://oneguyonebeer.com/2015/07/07/small-pour-4-westmalle-tripel/
  2. Wow. I had no idea TWL is such a divisive record. Quite frankly, I think it's one of the stronger, more confident collections in the band's career. It covers a huge musical map, but doesn't feel clunky or lacking. It's a statement about what/who the band is in that one moment, but creates an identity without falling into complacency halfway through. And maybe this is me, but I've never understood folks dogging SBS. Again, I think it's one of Jeff's most honest, warm, and all-around most sophisticated recordings. It's strange to me how folks sometimes mistake Wilco's biggest attribute for
  3. Tried this over the weekend: http://oneguyonebeer.com/2015/07/01/episode-7-ale-asylum-unshadowed/ Wasn't terribly thrilled...
  4. NEW POST: What’s better than a stout brewed with cocoa nibs and coffee? A stout brewed with cocoa nibs and coffee and then aged in whiskey barrels. We try one out in this week’s new Small Pour. http://oneguyonebeer.com/2015/06/29/small-pour-3-epic-brewings-big-bad-baptist/
  5. Hey guys. Great to see all the craft beer conversations happening here! ICYMI: One Guy, One Beer posted the latest in its Small Pour series yesterday about one of the best beers ever - at least in our opinion. Take a look. Cheers! http://oneguyonebeer.com/2015/06/24/small-pour-2-orval/
  6. Hey guys, BIG NEWS: There’s a new weekly segment at One Guy, One Beer called B-Roll which features photos and brief, playful reviews of beers we’ve enjoyed but weren’t able to feature on the show. Our first post is now live! Check it out. Spread the word. Suggest beers for B-Roll or the weekly show. Cheers! http://oneguyonebeer.com/2015/06/17/b-roll-1-brooklyn-brewerys-sorachi-ace/
  7. Nice, man. How was that fest? Heard good things about it. Make sure you give Half Acre's entire lineup a try. They don't make a bad one.
  8. Hey guys! New episode is posted and features a Chicago brewery, the venerable Half Acre Beer Company. Take a look. Thanks! http://oneguyonebeer.com/
  9. New episode of One Guy, One Beer, featuring P2 from Penrose Brewing in Geneva. Cheers! https://oneguyonebeer.wordpress.com/2015/06/05/penrose-brewing-p2/
  10. Granted, I'm still somewhat new to the craft beer landscape, so admittedly some of the 'whales' still hold some appeal for me. But I have noticed in the last few months my appreciation has grown for beers that are more expertly crafted than their super-hyped counterparts. I think it's kind of like discovering what makes authentic Italian food so wonderful is the simplicity, the restraint, the care put into it.
  11. Agreed - this thread is pretty boss. Also, if you're interested, we just posted our third episode featuring a New Glarus beer and a fussy pug puppy! Take a look. Thanks! https://oneguyonebeer.wordpress.com/2015/04/02/episode-3-new-glarus-brewing-company-scream-double-ipa/
  12. Bummer, dude. Bummer indeed. Even mellow chocolate beers? 3 Floyds makes some assertively hopped yet well-balanced beers. Plus, their hoppy wheat beer Gumballhead is one of my all time favs. Great summer beer. So easy drinking.
  13. Not a huge hop head, cards on the table, but my IPAs of choice: Sculpin, Two-Hearted, and 3 Floyd's Dreadnaught, which is ironic given that it's an imperial IPA, although perhaps not given the level of malt and sweetness to help balance that bitterness. Seems fitting to ask about KBS given its release this week. I had a bottle of this year's version a few weeks ago and I managed to snag two more bottles today on my lunch hour. The question becomes: Do y'all think it's worth the hype?
  14. I've heard great things about The Brew Kettle. If y'all have suggestions for beers to be featured on the show, check out www.oneguyonebeer.wordpress.com and leave a comment. Or, hell, just leave 'em in this thread. Cheers!
  15. Ha! Badass, man. Who doesn't love an English bitter?
  16. If only this 'alive and well' scene would distribute to the northern regions...
  17. Man, I always forget how happenings things are in Texas in terms of craft beer. Real Ale. Jester King. Live Oak. Funny enough, my wife loves sour beer and actually got into craft beer through sours, which always strikes me as strange given how many hardcore craft beer nerds have a hard time with sours. I mean, I love a good sour, but they're not for everyone. Also, if all this beer talk is making you thirsty, make sure to check out the video podcast that started this thread: https://oneguyonebeer.wordpress.com/ Feel free to suggest beers as well, yeah? Thanks!
  18. Another bucket list brewery: Jester King.
  19. I was under the impression Pliny can be somewhat tricky to get. Not impossible, just something of a small trick, more based on timing than anything else - right store, right time, etc.
  20. Don't have that luxury of traveling around, following delivery trucks, etc. But, hey, sharing/trading/generosity is really what craft beer is all about.
  21. Right? Craft beer and Wilco? How do you go wrong? I have been dying to try Hill Farmstead - same goes for Side Project. Both breweries have such a great rep when it comes to funky, farmhouse, terrior-based beers, you know? Definitely bucket-list beers...
  22. Never had Summit's EPA. Will have to keep an eye out.
  23. Back to Boulevard though, if we're talking American interpretations, Saison-Brett is pretty freaking amazing. Also, still on American interpretations, Ommegnang's Hennepin is pretty solid as well. A real nice dryness with those great peppery phenols.
  24. OK, one at a time here: 1). Tank 7 may be the best American and easily accessible incarnation of a saison. Such a wonderful, wonderful beer. 2). I am a farmhouse/saison/anything Belgian beer slut. My favorites, hands down, followed closely by a nice stout or American pale. Get to steppin', son! Dude, as a homebrewer, can you tell me which hop gives off that chive/onion/garlic note? That kind of earthy, grassy flavor?
