From what I can make out, the song that everyone likens to On and On and On is lyrically superior to it's counterpart. Me, I'm not the biggest fan of On and On and On as well because it felt a little stunted lyrically to me. But this new one sounds a little sharper, more of old Tweedy lyrics while still feeling fresh and not done before. Does this make sense? Personally, I like the lyrics to You and I the best. Feels like something off SBS, but I think it's quite lovely.

I like both of these songs very much. Of all the new ones, I still think One Wing is my favorite, but the new one from the first night--I'll go, I'll go, I'll go for you, I will--is a real close second. If this one should make the new record, I think it's going to be one of their 'hits,' meaning a fan favorite. It's real catchy, yet from what I can tell, containing some dark lyrics. The song from the second night is not bad either. Some of the piano parts remind of Lennon's Imagine. Both these songs bode well for a great record.

Current Obsession - Wilco or Wilco-affiliated

For me, it's been Millionare. I'm in love with that song. I also recently rediscovered a Golden Smog tune, Listen Joe. I think it's a Gary Louris tune since he is singing lead vocals, but when Jeff chimes in during the chorus the song becomes so haunting. Loving it. -

My girlfriend and I were walking down North Ave just east of Milwaukee and we walked right past Pat. It was crazy, because at first we didn't put it together and walked right past him, but then we both looked at each other and said, "That's Pat," real smart like that. We went back into some store right next to where Earwax Cafe is, but we lost him. So even though we didn't actually meet him, it was cool to see him walking down North Ave in the flesh. Weird, right? I also met Jeff in Madison in '05 just before a solo show at the Orpheum. I walked into some clothing store right near the venu

Yet again Tweedy and the boys have taken us in a different direction. One Wing is incredible--it's just that simple. And while I'm still a little lukewarm on Sunny Feeling, I'm constantly amazed at the fearlessness of Tweedy and Co. Bravo, boys. I can't wait to hear how, if at all, these turn out on the new record.

Has anybody given this a spin yet? I've just listened to it, and I'm wondering what everyone else thinks? Most reviews I've read have been really positive. I'm not so sure yet. I won't say more yet, less I ruin it for someone, but what did you all think? I'll chime in in a bit...

They have earned every bit of fame and success and they derserve it. I guess I just wish they could have the best of both worlds: success with still being able to play small venues and without being popualr...

So I was over on the Son Volt boards earlier this week and was reading some posts about how everyone over there is still glad that Son Volt is a small band, a kind of secret of sorts, and that got me thinking: does anyone miss the days when Wilco was like that? The pre-YHF period? I mean, I am so stoked that the boys are going to be on SNL and that they seem to be hitting their stride here, but there's a part of me that liked when the band was a little more obscure--that when I would tell my firends about them they wouldn't know who they were. Now it seems like everyone and his brother knows/l

Hey all, The WXRT single show presale is in about two hours. Where would I go to buy these? WXRT's website? I couldn't find it on there. Also, the passoword is winter, correct? If somebody could help me out, that would be awesome...I've never seen the full band before, just Jeff solo... Thanks, -NO

So I was just on The Shins website, reading over their history a little because even though I love the band I didn't know that much about them, and I found a somewhat startling figure. Their new record, Wincing The Night Away, sold 118,000 copies it's first week, and so far has sold 800,000 copies. This is all according to the website. My first thought was "wow! I thought they were this little indie-band still," and my second thought was "I can't believe they've sold more records than SBS. Or any of Wilco's records for that matter" Don't get me wrong, I love The Shins, and comparing them to Wi

So, I got that HQ update the other day and I was kind of shocked to see that the band is winding down touring for the year. I mean, the record came out in May and it doesn't seem like they have toured that much. This holds true especially when compared to the touring behind YHF and AGIB. I have heard other people say that the band is going to take a much needed break, and not that I don't agree they're a bunch of hard working kids, but I don't think this tour, at least on paper from Wilcobase, has looked all that rigerous. And then to hear that they're not going to play anymore for sometime sa

Does anyone have it the Milwaukee presale password and be willing to let me know what it is? I really want to see this show as I missed out on tickets in Chicago and Madison. Thanks.

Has anyone noticed that the venues for the current tour are much different than ever before? Granted, it's summer, which lends itself to bigger, outdoor gigs, which is cool, but what about the ye olde days of First Avenue, The Filmore in San Fran, Irving Plaza, Headliners in Louisville, and The Vic in Chicago. Don't get me wrong, I love that the band is running with their success and playing larger shows, but one of the things that attracted me to them in the first place was that they seemed to love playing smaller, more intimate spaces. Anyone else feel that? I mean, I would easily trade one

I have always thought that the boys would do an awesome cover of Mr. Bluesky by ELO. Especially with this current lineup, I think this song would rock it. Any hope for this one?

Could someone please post/PM LNGCA? I would really love to hear the studio version, but I don't have or want to get ITunes. Thanks so much.

Songs I would love to hear this summer: I'm Always In Love Can't Stand It Candyfloss Shouldn't Be Ashamed Pot Kettle Black Dreamer in My Dreams Red-Eyed Blue

I agree with those that say Is That The Thanks I Get should have made the album. I love SBS, but one of the weaker moments for me is What Light, and if the band was looking for an up tempo, single-like song, I think they overlooked this one. It's so damn good...
