  1. I have noticed with all Wilco records, but this especially, that you really have to listen to it as a hole. You can't really isolate tracks and get the same feel as you when listening to the whole record. And when I do that, I can see some of the jabs that people have making at the new material. So, there's that... For those of you who are having trouble getting into, try that maybe.

    Rate SBS

I gave it a nine. I do agree that some of the songs are safe, but they make up for their lack of edge with groove and soul. Hate It Here is fucking awesome! And Sky Blue Sky turned out so much better than I thought it was going to. Impossible Germany, Sky Blue Sky, and Side with The Sides are stand out tracks. Well done Wilco, well done.

    Sky Blue Sky

Hey everyone. I too loved SBS, one of their best efforts yet. It's clean and natual, and just sounds lovely. Thanks Jeff and the boys! Also, and I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but did anyone record ii/download it? If so, can someone PLEASE PM it to me? I want my GF friend to hear it, and see worked the night shift last night. If this post gets remove by admin, I totally understand. Many thanks everyone. Hope you're all well.
  4. I would go, YouAreMyFace. Did they have a full band in Champaign? If they didn't, it's a whole different experience. I felt the same way sort of when I saw open for Jeff in Milwaukee. But with a band they're pretty good.
  5. I noticed no one posted anything about this show, so I thought I would take a crack at it. I saw AD once when they opened for Jeff last time he was in Milwaukee--incidentally, at the same venue. I liked them then, but I love them now, and the experience is different when they have a full band. John and Pat's harmonzing was right on, and the band played a tight, lively set. Not too much banter really, but I didn't expect a whole lot anyway. The band seemed rushed in a sense, really running around to set up in between songs and kind of mashing each number into each other. But still really gre
  6. Just checking Wilcoworld for a sec, and I caught myself looking at the probable tracklisting. Does it seem off to anyone? I don't know about starting the record off with Either Way. Beautiful song, but I don't know about a record starter. Thoughts? Am I crazy? EDIT FROM EARLIER POST: I was wrong about Walken. After a few listens, it rocks!
  7. Wow. Does anyone hear a difference in the mechanics of the recording? It feels much warmer than AGIB, much "closer," if that makes any sense. I really like You Are My Face. Lovely little number. Either way is fantastic. Walken is a little eh on me still. I'm going to listen to it again and see how it goes.
  8. I can't believe I missed it! Stupid college classes! Could someone PLEASE PM them to me? I would so grateful...
  9. Waylon Jennings doing Bob Dylan's Beard, Evan Dando doing Blasting Fonda or Red-Eyed Blue, or young Bob Dylan doing Sunken Treasure. John Prine doing Someone's Elses Song would be cool too, and John Hiatt doing Kingpin or One by One. One more: Echo and The Bunnyman doing Candyfloss. Would be awesome, IMO.
  10. I was just interested in his/her opinion about all that. That says something. Thanks for answering, good sir.
  11. Just saw that. Sorry about that, but thanks.
  12. Two questions for you Chicago. Is You Are My Face Let's Not Get Carried Away? Second, where does this record fall in order of how good it is in regards to other Wilco records? Better than AGID? A good follow up? The worse one yet? Medicore?
  13. Glad to know I'm not alone.
  14. With the news of this song most likely being on Sky Blue Sky, I've been listening to it a lot lately, and I have to say it's grown on me. I wasn't really hot about this tune earlier, but it stays with you. That is all...
  15. I would venture a guess as to say that Jeff's going to do a majority of the songwriting. While other band members may have kicked in, I just have a feeling Jeff's is the name were going to see under the writing credits.
  16. For Wilco, The Sky Blue Sky Is the Limit.
  17. What show was this for? Was it a living room show? Thanks, -N
  18. "You're not obliged to swallow anything you despise." That about says it all for me. Great lyric. Sleeping Lessons, Turn On Me, and A Comet Appears are the standouts for me.
  19. Hey all, So I'm just not getting my first listen to the new Shins record, and I have to say I'm impressed. The music part of the band has seemed to mature some, while still clinging to James Mercer's off-beat songwriting. This record seems deeper than the last one, that there is something lurking just below surface. When they first came on to the scene I was a little cold on them, but after their last offering, and now this one, I think they're going to be a band to watch. By the way, anyone think that some tracks are homage to the Flaming Lips as far as the music goes? I do...
  20. Seriously? Don't toy with me...I love me that song.
  21. For some reason, I was really holding out for Let's Not Get Carried Away. It's a good ole' rocker.
  22. By the way, anyone surprised to see On and On and On make the cut? I think it's a really beautiful song, but they only played it a few times and the general opinon here was that it wasn't that stellar--not that what we say goes, but I'm a little surprised to see it on the record.
  23. Shake it Off has been played live once or twice. I know for sure they played it one night over Thanksgiving in Chicago. I don't believe the other three have played yet. Something to look forward to.
  24. Damn. That looks pretty good to me. I would've loved to have seen LNGCA make the cut, Let's Fight as well, but I'm glad to see Impossible Germany and Either Way, as well as Side With Seeds and a few new tunes too we have yet to hear. I'm getting stoked for this...
