In terms of narrative, pacing, performances, and editing, it clunks again and again. (Did you notice that it doesn't have scenes? It only presents sketches for scenes.) I'm baffled by the vigor of its defenders. It's almost as if the mere fact that Don't Look Up has well-meaning satirical intentions means it's automatically a good movie. But well-meaning is not synonymous with well-made.

Exactly --- if the intention was to make people actually think about global warming, etc. while making people laugh - it completely missed the mark for me - the humor, due to the writing, was completely lost on me.  (Typically, I enjoy McKay's movies)

None of the characters had any redeeming qualities, therefore I couldn't have any empathy for anyone or anything, while watching it.

Tumbling Dice - I love that live version from the 72 tour. You can see Keith telling Mick "to stop playing" the riff.

It looks like Mick Taylor started to solo a bit and Keith did not like that --- he just wanted to vamp the riff while Jagger sang the "got to roll" bit.

    Hi Calvino!

Superb Hershey Theatre with 3rd row loge. Definitely minimalistic stage with lights only coming from floor with long deep red curtain backdrop. Sparse by design. Heavy on new record, but by far the most audible I’ve heard Bob in many years. Like he WANTS to be heard, playing mostly chords on piano, and only coming out from behind briefly 3 or 4 times. Frail in physique, but strong as ever in voice. Band “under-played” a lot of the material in deference to the music, the mood and the message I believe. Tony A Game as always - though I did yearn for the Charlie/ Larry years once or twice during the show on guitar. Cool side note- jumped out during Early Roman Kings to hit the restroom - outside of merch guys and some staff there was NO ONE in the lobby. Dylan still commands that, in my book……

Curious if he will mix up setlist at the Beacon this weekend. Probably not. Not a problem.

Thanks for the review. Dylan was definitely more active at the Columbus show. The Columbus crowd was great, as well.
People were glued to their seats.

Saw that as an early teen mid 70s in a theatre it was decent

Have not seen it since/ maybe time to revisit.

The Stones re-released it in the theaters in 2010 - it was cool to see on the big screen.

Re-watched during  DVD binge, after Charlie passed away.

Wow, 20 years!?! Thank you for letting me know Donna, what a great feeling to see all of your screen names and in some cases avatars from the way way back. I’m almost positive I was here in 2001, I have memories of being here on 9/11. But you can’t trust an old lady’s memory… 🤣

I have so many fond memories of this forum, of meeting my fellow Wilco fans, creating the adopt a newbie program for show trading… remember CDs? Ha! The Wilco/REM show at Red Rocks in… September ‘03(?) was a particular highlight of my concert-going life.

VC was where I learned of 95% of the music I listened to in the aughts… so many here with such good taste in music. You all made me a music snob 😁.

Thank you VC for the memories and good times! 🥳

My wife and I were at the September 13, 2003 REM/Wilco show --- great Kicking Television opener. A cold, cold night.

    Saw Dylan last night.

Well, Jakob Dylan and the Wallflowers.  It was good.  I am not particularly a fan so I didn't have many expectations.  Aside from the hits and a Petty cover, I didn't know any of the songs.  But it was solid.  And he was definitely a more engaged performer than any time I have ever seen his father.

Saw his dad on Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio. Still going strong at 80. 8 new tunes off his latest record.

Saturday's show was my 21st and it was definitely the best produced show I seen from Dylan. The lighting was was great. They built up the stage and the band played on a light box, which was used very nicely. Definitely had a 'play-like' production feel.

Dylan and Elvis (and Sexton) are in Chicago tonight. Good for Bob for playing 8 of 10 new songs, but that doesn't look like a super enjoyable set if the new album isn't your thing...

The latest recored never jumped out at me, I have only listened to it a handful of times, but I glad he is playing 8 of the tunes --- probably would have skipped this tour if he only played 1 or 2.

I am curious to see if he keeps playing all 8.

While looking for restaurants  near the theater, I saw that a place called Ringside Cafe is right around the corner -- opened since 1897. Need to see I can spot a guy with a grey hoodie soaking up the boxing motif ambiance while enjoying a burger and a beer....

  8. Congrats Boss_Tweedy ---- must admit the chop bugs the hell out me, but they had an interesting year and they turned it around the right time.

Their front office should get an award for the wonders they did this year, as well as the manager. Congrats.

  9. Yeah I heard about Sexton playing with Costello --- definitely will be missed. Will see how the replacement is.

Never heard of Doug Lancio.  I just saw that he is on some John Hiatt records that I have - didn't recognize the name.

Bob Britt was playing with him in 2019 -- I enjoyed his playing when I saw the show in Chicago.

  10. Start of the tour last night --- a lot of new tunes off his latest, which is cool. New drummer and guitar player.

Just decided to make a family trip to Columbus, Ohio to catch a show this Saturday.

Interestingly - I will be seeing another X-Pensive Wino -- Charley Drayton, saw Steve Jordan last week with the Stones.

The Expecting Rain site needs to learn how to spell Drayton's first name.

  11. Heading up to Minnesota today for the Stones' Sunday concert.

I am looking forward to see what Steve Jordan brings to the table. Guessing it will be both a sad and sweet show.

I am glad I saw the two Soldier Field shows in 2019 --- those shows will serve as the bookends, while this weekend's show is the afterword.

"Paris, Texas". Had never seen it but it is referenced in songs by two of my favorite artists so I needed to see what it was all about.

"Val" on Amazon. A documentary on Val Kilmer by Val Kilmer. He has been documenting his own life since childhood on home videos and compiled them for this film. Very interesting imo

Watched both of these ---- Paris, Texas was shot great --- I will watch anything that has Harry Dean Stanton.

His character and his son played a great road-trip duo.

Val was also pretty good ---- sad. It's great that he had a great relationship with his parents, though they didn't seem to all that great to him --- guess they probably paid for his Juilliard training. It's great that it seems that he has a better relationship with kids. Also like the fact that he is still pretty weird.

The footage of Top Gun was pretty cool to see. Remember my buddy's mom taking us to see it the movie theater. It was pretty cool.

Granted that Doors movie was a mess - I always thought Kilmer nailed the character.
