  1. I have to chime in that I was shocked at the rudeness of the crowd even after being scolded by Tweedy. It was ridiculous. I hate that we might have missed songs b/c of the Ole Miss kids' need to socialize. But Pat's dad's dancing was delightful. And all the old songs were great. I saw them at the Ford Center on Ole Miss campus in 2006 and the crowd was not like this (I think there was no alcohol sold?). But nothing beats the reverence of the Nashville audiences. You could almost hear a pin drop when they played the Ryman in 2006. Seeing Wilco is like going to church for me. And Southe
  2. Just want to chime in that my husband and I fell in love with Lanois after borrowing Acadie from a friend years ago. We still play it and Shine over and over. Everyone should be familiar with his music.
  3. I just read this thread, but I saw a bluebird in Memphis on 9/14. I would have looked for more had I known. There was also a large UNKL toy near Mikael. It must all be part of the new energy they are exuding. I hope he got your bird gift.
  4. I just got back from the Southaven, MS show, and I am 4 months pregnant (not the same, I know). Dr. Dog started at 7:30, and Wilco came on about 8:45. They played until 11:00. I hope you can make as much of the show as possible, because Wilco is "on" right now, so full of energy. I was tired of standing by the end, but it was so worth it. Good luck.
  5. Aw, PigSooie, you beat me to posting the setlist. The show was incredible, despite the drizzle. The band seemed really happy, animated. Did y'all already mention the idiot who made it up on stage (and was whisked off by security)? Tweedy shook the security dude's hand right after the show. Earlier in the night Tweedy invited everyone down to the front but warned them not to get on the stage. Austin, TX is going to love it when they break out the older tunes. They're playing with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. I thought the Ryman show last year was my best Wilco show ever, but this o
  6. Yeah, hopefully John Stirratt's twin sister Laurie will be around for this show (I think she lives in near Oxford now), and Wilco will want to do right by her and all their MS friends (Pat's from Meridian, which is a ways away from Southaven). Rain, rain stay away!! Blue Mountain fans might want to read this: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/...a4bluemountain/ They played Memphis last week but I missed it.
  7. I'll be there, 4th row. I'm not worried about the weather, more worried that we're the follow-up show to the humdinger last night and Austin City Limits this weekend. Hope they still give us some song treats.
  8. Thanks for clearing that up. These reviewers could do a little more homework. One Memphis review called Glenn's Wilco work "economical."
  9. I was on the front row in Memphis on 1/16, and he did take a black cloth off a number of boxes (about 12) then lift the lids individually for the song "Monkey Chant." They were mic'd from above. The lids and the cloth muffled the sound when he was finished, but I could still hear them when the song was over. You can see the boxes here: http://glennkotche.com/technical.php#top I don't follow Glenn's solo work closely, so can a wise percussionist enlighten us? I thought they were crickets. They sounded like crickets.
  10. I just saw you perform last night in Oxford, and in reading the show reviews, realized that you are so recently grieving. Thank you for sharing your gift of music even when wading through such sorrow. We all feel like we know you, Jeff. Hopefully these messages can give you a glimpse of the deep emotions everyone has for you. Peace to you, Sue, and the boys, Wendy, Richie, Phillip & James Trenthem Memphis, TN
  11. I drove 4.5 hours from Memphis and got there during the 2nd song. It was great (but not as good as Nashville). I need help (or maybe intervention), as I did not tell my friends and family about this mid-week jaunt to see my favorite band. Then saw them 2 days later. I think I'll have my fix for a while. Now for the new Loose Fur out today. Meridian's highlight of course was Pat's touching words. I loved what he said about how modest his dad was all those years, not asking any artists for their photo/autograph. If you read Danny Miller's blog (he's Jeff's brother-in-law), he has some
