Oh yeah!! "Insignificance" is his best, I feel. I sometimes think I like Loose Fur better than Wilco these days. I personally prefer the more experimental approach that O'Rourke brings to the table. I've got nothing against Wilco's current line-up. Sky Blue Sky is a pretty good album, but I loved the line-up post YHF/around A A Ghost Is Born that included Jim and Leroy. Masses of space in the music (especially live) and Jeff on lead guitar.

The NME ceased to be relevant and an example of good music journalism in 1990 when they created the "Madchester" scene and in the process diluted the appeal of excellent bands like Inspiral Carpets and the Stone Roses. the LR Baggs M1A is an okay pickup. It's one of the more acoustic sounding soundhole pickups out there. I use one in a Martin hd28 and for plug n play gigs it will do you fine. For the nearest acoustic sound you can get in a pick up, try installing a stereo Trance Amulet system (basically a modern day FRAP system used by Neil Young). I installed one in my martin d42. most realistic and useable acoustic tone out there without using a mic. needs a little notching to avoid feedback in a live situation.

nah. I'll bet you a dollar they put out something official. They don't take a multitrack recording truck to every gig for the fun of it. Audience recordings aren't the be all and end all.

Well I'm not sure if this means it's destined for official release but the guys from Metro had their mobile truck out back at the Riv running multitrack. That's kind of a big expense - even for Wilco - if you don't intend on using the material. Otherwise, Stan Doty's soundboard recordings should've sufficed the band for playback purposes?

Lossy police - that's hilarious!! I wish the LP would just realise that it achieves nothing if you record audience sourced discs in FLAC. There just isn't the high end present in a live environment to warrant it. Most FOH systems roll off at 16k anyway. MP3 or AAC at 320kbps is more than ample. Thanks for the recordings anyway! Shame about the dick who talks all the way thru the intro to At Least that's What you said. Why would anyone pay to go to watch a special gig like this and even consider talking during a song, let alone a quiet intro.

I once had a (fairly long) conversation about Vox amps with Jeff. He's obviously a fan of the JMI point-to-point wired stuff. Last time I saw Wilco I think he had an AC30 head and some kind of Vox cab. Anyway, are you US or UK based? Whatever, there's a good store online called Watford Valves. They can give decent advice. His replies to emails tend to be a little abrupt (!) but helpful. From memory the AC15 is normally fitted with stock chinese tubes. Some valve retailers now sell upgraded tubes that have been cryogenically frozen which supposedly improves the tube life and tone. Bett

Yeah. I use a AC15 tbr. (British made) It's the best amp I've played. Worth updating the valves though. I tried the AC30 and it was just too big, too loud. AC15 is warm and clean and breaks up at the right point. Loves decent pedals. Also have a 1965 AC10 twin for recording. You have to have it all the way up to achieve the tone - but it's hands down the most interactive dirty tone out there. Doesn't need a pedal. Can't gig with it because it tends to eat valves.
