Probably not. Jeff Tweedy is more than just some dude wearing pants.
Well I have the fates to test. Time to start the 9 hour journey to make it to my first Solo show. Driving a car with over 250,000 miles 1100+ miles in 2 days will be the ultimate test of what Karma I have left.
best of luck...

the kind of men who look down upon women as a policy.
It is sad to hear that there are enough men who "look down upon women as a policy" that they may be referred to in connection with anything. Who would you cite as examples of this behavior?
I don't care for Hillary Clinton at all, but I would be ecstatic to have a woman serve as President. I think it's badly needed at this point.
A POST-menopausal woman, of course.
(I'm just kidding, don't get your panties in a wad) (damn, I did it again). sorry.
I don't know you though. I don't know anyone here.well, see, I was just working on that problem with the whole "introduction" thing.

The only people I know who hate Hillary are women.
Hi, I'm Neil. Pleased to make your acquaintance.

but it doesn't cost anything to use that "ignore" option.
There's an "ignore" option?!!?!
Geez. First I find out there are two new wilco dates in Texas this October, and now this. What a fantastic day!!
Found it. thanks so much for the know cryptique.

I was listening to "What Light" last night, and for some odd reason, I was thinking that Bono would cover this song. Then I imagined him singing it, and I got angry. So Jeff, don't let Bono sing "What Light." please. It's too good for that. (no offense, Bono).

First 500 bucks (reasonable offers considered too) and I stop posting.
Certified checks or money orders only, of course.
I'm good for $5.
Although I'm not sure why I'd want you to stop posting--other than the simple fact that your signature gives me nightmares.

I love Hillary and would gladly martyr myself for her cause.
would you expound on what exactly you love about her? I'm curious...
I'm obviously not a fan of hers, but I try to keep an open mind about political figures, so I'd be interested to know what motivates you to support her.

Hey, if it's any consolation, if people can pretend that Rush isn't a drug addict, and that O'Reilly isn't sexually poivoise, and that John Stossel isn't an ass, you can probably still believe that Newt dislikes Hillary as much as he did in the 90s.in what way is John Stoseel an ass?
Have you read his latest book?

The first article that came up was from CBS news, but I'll link to it anyway:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/05/13/...ain695090.shtml
Shit man, there's even an article on the ever-lovable NewsMax:
He is obviously suffering from some kind of dimensia or drug addiction. I'm going to pretend I didn't see any of that. I need a shower.

(And don't forget that Newt and Hillary are buddies now.)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
where did you get this information?
Has the sky turned purple?
Have wilco fans gotten over the personnel changes?
Has primetime television become witty and original?
-
Har har, I guess speaking from the "smarts is bad" standpoint, you're probably right.
she quite literally frightens me. When I was in law school ('94-'97) she came and spoke to us. You could have easily convinced me that we were watching and listening to a robot. I have rarely in my life heard someone use so many words and gestures and yet say so little. She could easily frighten young children and cause sleeping disorders.
Has she offered any original ideas or plans, or simply criticized everything done on the other side of the aisle? (I'm asking sincerely, I don't know of an example).
I fear that only the mighty Newt can save us now, and sadly I think that time has passed...

I once really respected Hillary but that also is waning in my mind.
What an awful, desolate place you must have been in. I can only imagine in my darkest mind what that must have been like. You should find a 12-step group to make sure that you don't relapse.
-
a lot of my friends don't get them ...
I was listening last night to two R.E.M. concerts I recently got through torrents--one from '84 and the other from '86. The whole lineup of that album is represented, and done so well. What an original band they were then...
-
Chad Smith is the dufus of that group, and that's saying something.
that's one of the funniest things I've ever read on this board.
I love Frusciante, but gave up interest in RHCP after BloodSugarSexMagiklongrunonsentenceofanalbumname.
I think maybe they should relocate to Des Moines and put out "Dani Iowa" or something.

I just noticed these on WilcoWorld. I'm nowhere near any of them, but thought I'd be the bearer of good news.

I think Pauly Shore is the cutoff.
that depends on which side of the line you'd place him...

I haven't found the lyrics to all the newbies in "lyrics & tabs." anyone want to throw in their versions?

On the first day of an econ class back when I was in college, the teacher had a list of like 40 everyday items and their price per gallon all of which was more than gasoline. The most expensive thing on the list was Jack Daniels at something like $120 a gallon. It was a class of like 250 people.
I responded by saying "But can you name one of these products we would ever regularly use 5 gallons of a day."
Stats can always be scewed even when they are 100% factual.
But I don't think this statistic is screwed. Think about how much it costs to "produce," bottle and distribute bottled water, vs. the production, distribution, tax and maintenance costs of a gallon of gasoline. I just think our outrage over the price of gas is a little silly when you consider what we'll pay for 16 ozs of water or coffee.
-
Shit. So much for my car-that-runs-on-coffee idea.
never lose hope. Starbucks may fail.
-
I think it's interesting that we Americans spend more per gallon on coffee and water than we do on gasoline...

I realize this was a typo, but I kind of like the word. As a side-thread, I'd love to hear proposed definitions...
I'm not sure about the political party absence. I have noticed, in addition to your observation, that many candidates' signs do not even include the office for which the candidate is running. I fear this is the result of marketers' influence--which is to say that pure name recongition may trump political parties or offices themselves.
I know that in a judicial primary election which took place here in Houston recently, a judge that I happen to like was unseated by an opponent who did little more in the way of campaigning than simply plastering her name--and name only--all over the city. She'll now be deciding eminent domain cases in Harris County, Texas. It's frightening.

I wonder how long it will be before the good ol' corporate firewall starts blocking YouTube. It can only be a matter of time.
I've been wondering the same thing. Something this entertaining surely can't last...
The end of parties....
