  1. Wouldn't it be nice....

yeah, but... I don't know. Greatest album ever (as one poster stated earlier)?? That track is pleasant, but even "don't worry baby" kicks it's ass in my humble opinion (that being the only beach boys song that's ever just hooked me immediately--amazing soundscape in that song, perfect hooky melodies and guitar strums/plucks).

  2. this is an album I know I'm supposed to fawn over (to be the hip music fan I of course aspire to be :ermm ), and I've given it many tries, and I just have never been blown away.

Those of you who proclaim it's greatness, help me out--let me know what moments just get your girdles (or slacks, or trousers) all bunched up.

  3. I'm surprised they're havent' been more comments on here about "the good part" and "in a future age," both of which were just stunnin, in my opinion. Maybe there's more on "after the show," I don't know...

I sure enjoyed listening and reading all the commentary on here, though. I hope there are many encores of these webcasts...

oh, and that version of "walken" which was in the mode of kicking an ass! :)

  4. in a future age??

Kamera always reminds me of the time when I met my now wife, but I wouldn't call it "lovey dovey."

    hmpf.

that's tough with wilco songs. A lot of times the melodies that would match the kind of cd you're talking about don't have lyrics that would and vice-versa (e.g. "via chicago" has a lovely melody, but lines like "I dreamed about killing you again last night" probably won't fit the whole "wedding" motif)

I'll run through some of my tweedy shows after work and see if anything comes to mind...

  5. what kind of software do you guys use to capture webcasts, or the casts on wilcowolrd.net?

I received a suggestion for audio hijack, but that's for macs... any suggestions for windows?

    gracias.

  6. when this started I called my best friend's sister, who had previously indicated that she "just hadn't been able to get into wilco" and told her, "here's your free chance to see how you like them live" etc.

Now I'm just trying to imagine what she's thinking.

Can you BELIEVE that a band has a catalogue this diverse??? Look at everything they've played and how unbelievable, tight, and diverse it all is...

    just amazing...

  7. there are nice surprises...

...and then there's checking via chicago on a boring Sunday afternoon and finding out that you'll spend Sunday night (in your head) at a wilco concert.

    just became a great weekend!!!!!!

    :cheers

  8. I used to say the same thing about the overabundance of wah pedals (and people who play them as though they only have two positions...)

The thing is, those filters (like any other pedal) can be used for a huge variety of sounds. If those guitarists only choose to get out of them what they heard jerry get out of them, then so be it. but I wouldn't dog any particular pedal just because of the way a certain few people choose to use (or abuse) it.

  9. I have never found a slide I'm totally comfortable with--for either acoustic or electric. Got kinda skinny fingers, which doesn't help. Let us know if you find something that feels right. best of luck...

Chris Whitley played his whole career with a piece of an old bicycle, at least that's the story I was told.
