  1. YES!! NO WEEK LONG WAIT! THANK YOU DARREN HELM! Damn the Wings have so much depth it's insane. Really shows you the importance of not only drafting well but developing.
  2. Let's hope for a Wings victory so we can get onto this epic battle.
  3. That is sad to hear. Some brilliant bastard has been voting -1 in every post in this topic, it's been hilarious. Not me though.
  4. All the text is so big! I know there are some older users on Via Chicago, but really?!
  5. I like how we can "like" and "dislike" posts.
  6. The NBC deal is bullshit. The NBC broadcasts themselves are shit. Bettman needs to resign and then they need to get someone in there that can the NHL on ESPN. Or get CBC and TSN in every American household. That'd be nice. Patrick Roy, has been offered the GM and head coach position of the Colorado Avalanche. EDIT: If the conference finals wrap up by Wednesday the finals could start as soon as Saturday.
  7. I think this should be a lesson to all of us, at just how short life can be. Make sure everyone you care about knows it. Don't sit around waiting for life to reconcile you with someone... it's just too short. As a young musician I can't even begin to explain the effect that Jay's production and musicianship had on me. I still remember being 17 years old and discovering Yankee Hotel Foxtrot... listening to the textures on that record and thinking to myself "ahh! that's what I've been searching for!". There's only one reason why I have a banjo, multiple guitars, keyboards, lap steel, bass gui
  8. Why? Because NHL's stars don't do steroids? Constantly go to jail for drugs/assault/dog fighting rings??? Anyways... to anyone who has ever been annoyed by Pat Kane sticking his mouth guard out:
  9. Same. Lennon, Drake, etc were never on this earth when I was. Harrison and Garcia died before I ever knew who they really were. The first time I heard Elliott Smith was the day he died... I always felt that Jay Bennett got a bad rap. It just seemed like he had problems expressing himself to his band members, at least in the I Am Trying To Break Your Heart documentary. Band mates are going to argue, being around someone so much, working with them, essentially living with them... it's just human nature. I didn't know Jay, I never met him, but I could tell he was a good man and a true talent. F
  10. You guys watching the Memorial Cup? So good, so good.
  11. I don't think there's ever been so much parity in the league. Which makes what the Wings do all the more impressive. What?
  12. Leave your wife at home, there's suppose to be a lot of beautiful women in Montreal.
  13. Stop complaining about reffing. The Hawks got lucky a number of times during the Canucks series... these things even themselves out. If anything the NHL probably wants Chicago in the finals, not Detroit so quit your whining. The Wings were clearly the better team in game 1 and were the better in game 2. If you can't score on Chris Osgood during a lengthy 5-3 then you probably don't deserve to win the game. WINGS VS PENGUINS ROUND II COMING THIS JUNE.
  14. 1) Sunken Treasure 2) Via Chicago 3) I Am Trying To Break Your Heart 4) Wishful Thinking YEAH I PICKED 4!!!
  15. Agreed. I really liked The Shepherd's Dog but I never listened to it as much as The Creek Drank The Cradle. Don't know why. I'll probably buy this Around the Well record, Sam's a fairly prolific writer and has a lot of great non-album tracks.
  16. Maybe I'm a jackass (okay, I probably am) but I was a little bit annoyed with all the kids, when I went to see Wilco. If you want to take your kids to a concert, go take them to They Might Be Giants, or something like that. There's a time and a place for kids but it isn't a rock concert. But I just don't like kids in general, so maybe I am biased.
  17. See, the salary cap is brought down by bad markets with low attendance. The gross profits of such franchises are hurt even more in this economy. If the league had 26 teams, with no Florida, Atlanta, Nashville, and Phoenix, the over all profits would go up, for sure. I don't think the "sunbelt" is hopeless. Dallas has done really well. And I think a market like Kansas City or even Las Vegas would probably do decently. Phoenix is hurt by being so poorly run. Everything I hear, the team does nothing to get out into the community and there's too much to compete with, what with their MLB, NFL, and
  18. Eeh I don't know how much extra you can pay a player in the playoffs but if it's true, so can every other team. Seeing the face of your franchise walk is common place in the new NHL. Look at Marian Gaborik in next 45ish days. Look at the Ducks, they couldn't even fit rookie Bobby Ryan under the cap at the beginning of the season because all those young players, Getzlaf and Perry, have moved off their rookie contracts. Hell, they had to trade Schneider just to fit under the cap. Do you think they could have used him against Detroit when they were scrambling to get their puck out of their own en
  19. http://daveandthomas.net/blog/wp-content/u..._lilly_lost.jpg NSFW My image wins.
  20. That's the most ridiculous thing anyone has ever said on the internet.
  21. You don't think she's totally EVIL?? She's by no means as attractive as Kate (she's totally old, while Kate is young, sexy, and Canadian). Also she's too much of a head case "oh jeeze, let's get off the sub and stop Jack!" "No wait! You looked at Kate in a way that maybe someone who use to bang someone might look at someone, let's help Jack so we never ever met and I'm still, pretty much, a prisoner of The Others!" "Oh no, I can't get these chains off me!!!" Like seriously lady, seriously.
  22. Yes, if we all didn't hate Juliette, we might have been very sad!!
  23. Just think how much better they're going to get! Scarrrryyy. But the sad part is, the cap works against teams like this. You draft players, develop them, and then lose them because you just can't afford them under the salary cap. But Chicago is such a good market maybe those kids will give them some hometown discounts... maybe.
  24. Don't want to cause conflict but the Hawks won't win the cup this year. They're a good young team and they're only going to get better in the next few years (until all those rookie contracts expire and the salary cap tears the team apart ) but I don't see them getting past Detroit and if they did they don't match up well against the Penguins or the Canes. Crosby > Toews. Malkin > Kane. Hell, I'd take Fleury over the Bulin Wall. The Hawks will win the cup but not in 2009. Give it time. Course, Phoenix (Hamilton??), LA, and St. Louis all have really going, young, teams too... the West is
